SBMM doesn't work

Tired of being matched against sweaty gen rushing tryhards as a Killer and/or no-lifers with prestige levels above 80.

I had the misfortune of being sent to Midwich as The Knight against at bare minimum a three man SWF. Before I could even find a single survivor, two generators popped within seconds of each other. At that point I just went to the basement and faced a corner because it was clear I wasn't going to win. Of course they still held the game hostage even after the gates were powered and only left after I opened a gate to force the EGC and went back to the basement.

I can't recall the last time a match broke my spirit that fast given the match was effectively rigged against me.

  • It doesn't have much to do with sbmmr. Matchmaking in DBD has been a mess for years even before that.

When ranks where a thing, the majority of the playerbase was stuck together in red ranks matched against each other no matter the skill and the rest in the reanks below would be mix and matched to shorten queue times.

Nowadays MMR is soften to the point of being pointless and all again to shorten queue times or refill lobbies as fast as possible.

    Speed >>>>>>>>>quality

  • You can see people's prestige level in the lobby, assuming they don't switch at the last second, so can always just dodge high level prestige.

Also Midwich is the best map for killers, even those that it doesn't suit amazingly.

  • So you assumed they were a SWF because two gens popped very fast? Interesting. And Midwich is the LEAST survived map for survivors according to the devs.

Especially with Knight who can teleport up or down a floor!

At least three of them were all playing on PC, they were all friends on Steam and they were all playing DbD. Now why would I assume at it was at least a three man SWF?

If I had been playing the Dredge, it might have been a tolerable match given the Dredge can teleport to scout generators but as the Knight? Forget it. Any Killer with poor mobility or map pressure is going to struggle on Midwich.

  • You claimed the party as sweat genrushers but you spent 90 seconds trying to find first chase. They literally had nothing else to do but repair...

Yes, it was unfortunate you didn't find anyone before 2 gens poped but that has nothing with "sweating" from survivors' side.

Did you know this before or after the match and giving up and why would it even matter? A solo team could manage to pop two gens fast. SWF is an advantage but knowing how to play the game is a bigger one. That is the problem with high MMR. I've had solo games where we all took hits for each other, took aggro, body blocked, took aggro from the knights guards etc without the benefits of comms. By your summary it sounds like you just had a rash of bad games and gave up then blamed it on SWF.

I don't player killer very often but when I do, I almost always lose two gens and sometimes very fast, but the advantage of a map like that is finding gens. If the survivors have a lot of time in the game they may be familiar with gen spawns there. But a lot of times survivors end up with a three gen because they have no idea where gens are relative to each other. That is still hard to track with SWF. Breaking that back wall by the bathroom allows for swift and sneaky entry to the top and bottom levels instead of using the stairs. You can also keep them off the piano room gen if it spawns there and wasn't done first. Once you get a hook, it really snowballs as there is no way a survivor can approach-especially upstairs- without being seen. Kill just one of the survivors and the odds switch in your favor. The exit doors are so close you can post up a guard and check the other one. Keep them injured and prolong the exit until you have a hook. If it was SWF they most likely will come back for their friend. The game isn't over until its over. You could have turned it around but not if you don't even try.

  • MMR being a matchmaking parameter is riddiculous when the Devs have admitted that their system doesnt track skill whatsoever because there's too manny factors that determine skill. Factors that are already tracked by the Emblem and BP scoring system mind you...*SMH*

BUT IT'S STILL USED FOR WHATEVER MATCHMAKING SYSTEM THERE IS...

Matchmaking should do 2 things, first of all assure a good connection, and secondly do the best it can to match reasonably equally skilled people together.

BUT THE MATTER OF THE FACT WITH DBD IS : QUEUE TIMES FIRST everything else after. And since MMR does not track skill whatsoever it only makes matchmaking even worse because there's now a new higher priority parameter that completly creates chaos. Bad connections, completly broken skill levels. Brand new players facing veterans or just simply plain sweaty try hards that do nothing besides playing DbD for 10+ hours a day.

And matchmaking incentives to play either role don't help either because they create an influx of people with very varied MMR's and connections that end up adding to the chaos. the Bonus %BP only serves the purpose of making QUEUES FASTER. IT doesn't make better matches in connection or skill.

There's 2 Parameters actively working against any sort of coherent matchmaking. MMR has been the single worst mistake ever made but the time and money and effort spent on it "has to pay off". It never will tho but it will also never go away...

Yes, I had a reasonably high suspicion that it was at least a three man SWF. I went through with it anyways in hopes that I might outplay them since I had found myself unknowingly outplaying 4 man SWFs before that were playing with a streamer who I wasn't aware was live and found out they were a full SWF only after the match when I checked to see if they were live.

My hopes of doing well dropped when I saw it was Midwich and fell further when two generators popped before I even found the first survivor due to how long it was taking me to scout thanks to how crappy a map Midwich is. When the third gen popped and I still hadn't even downed a single one of them yet, let alone hook one, I decided I had no chance of winning and just went down into the basement and faced a corner.

I'm so tired of aggressive killer players shaming people for liking 1 survivor to play as. You guys are just as toxic then the sweaty try hard you're complaining about
