Which way to devs balance the game?

Is it balanced from high rank down, or low rank up? I was just thinking about the basekit Nurse nerf. It comes off as okay when against low ranks, since they're still learning and the killer doesn't have to sweat as much. But at high ranks, a few seconds breathing room can change the match. Where that puts her when she goes live, I won't hazard to guess. I figure Spirit is next, seeing the 10,001 posts about her.

I mean, I'm all for balance, but when the majority of the killer roster is locked behind that high rank wall (I blame the rift on SWF), where is the balancing coming from?Top down or bottom up?

  • Ah, you had me until you blamed SWF. To be honest the game is probably balanced more around ranks 10-20. More for the "casual" player.

  • Alot of the lower Killers need help

Why? SWF bring their communication and organization. They can effectively apply their own form of pressure on the match that solos just can't compete with, unless you have one of those 1 in a million, all in sync teammates that have telepathy. You can't bring an M1 killer against a half way decent SWF and expect a 'fair and balanced' match. The 'Big Three' enabled that. Maybe a little higher, or a little lower in terms of skill, but they have, and maybe had in the Nurses case, the means to even things out.

So, my meaning is that there's a large gap between much of the roster, and the top three. M1 killers fair better, of course, against solo player than they do with SWF. Thus, the disparity. So, are we balancing from the bottom up, or the top down, when it comes to killer/survivors? This nerf seems like it's meant for lower ranked matchups, which I'm for, but it's going to hit high ranks harder. Especially if the devs just go for it and hit the Spirit and Billy.

4-man SWF make up a really small portion of the players you'll encounter. You're more likely to encounter a 2-man SWF. Again though even having communication doesn't make you a god. Simply stating whether its swf or a solo if they've played a ton they'll probably know how to destroy a m1 killer.
