Open hatch with a key while in dying state
Is that not possible? Have people just been getting lucky with the timing of it opening?
Edit: Was it at least possible at SOME point but patched out? I need to know if I have been THAT oblivious.

It is not possible.
That's stupid. The survivor is too weak and pathetic to put a key in a keyhole. Can crawl to your hearts content but can't even do that.
Well you can't use any items in the dying state. It's consistent. You are supposed to be extremely vulnerable and nearly helpless.
Yeah it makes sense that you can't use a tool box or a medkit. But it's a KEY, to open up something in the ground, you crawl on the ground.
I think you should be able to at least use a medical kit while in the dying state in my opinion. :(
You get hooked after 2 smacks from a katana, than tossed to a ridicoulusly thick and rusty hook that littearly goes straight through your heart and left lung, than get unhooked, run away like nothing happened, and pach yourself up with nothing in 30 seconds.
It's DbD don't even try to find realism here. Also keys are OP. They should be removed or heavily limited in usage alongside with eboni moris
I mean, what stops a Survivor on the ground from jamming a syringe into their arm or something?
That would go against the mechanics of getting helped up.
And using a key would go against the mechanics of not being able to use an item while downed.
It's called balance.
@TAG The syringe requires a medkit, my point still stands.
The key requires you to be standing, though?
You should be able to open something on the ground while you are crawling on the ground.
I feel like if I say "you should be able to jam a syringe into your arm while you are crawling on the ground," we're going to be going around in circles.
True. But was at it at least possible at SOME point? I'm curious if I have been THAT blind this whole time.
Edit: nvm
You can't...but you should be able to.
Maybe there should be a perk called 'Desperation' that allows you use syringes and keys whilst dying.
Hey now there's a neat idea.
As far as I am aware, no.
I feel like that perk would be bad if it only worked for Keys are absurd (albeit niche) if it worked for Syringe/Styptic.
I can use key open hatch while in madness 3 - the only item i can use in madness 3. Where is your consistent now?
Dying state =\= madness. Talk to the devs about that.
Maybe they could incorporate something else in the perk like hatch detection or something.
Yes, let's use irl logic. Survivors cant bodyblock killers. Too weak. Some killers shouldnt be able to walk, let alone carry a body. Trapper would lose his foot when he set off his own trap. Survivors would die first hook.
See why we dont use real logic?
It's the entities realm/done for gameplay mechanics sake.
