The "Surprise!" perk


2 additional chests will spawn in the trial. Survivors searched a chest:

  • Will scream and reveal their location for 3 seconds
  • Their aura will be revealed for 10/12/15 seconds
  • Will suffer from the 10/12/15% Hindered status effect and from the Exposed status effect for 10/12/15 seconds

Surprise! grants considerably better chance at finding items of a higher rarity from chests

Surprise! can be trumped by Calm spirit, Distortion, Sole Survivor.

    So you want survivors to focus more on pounding out gens - got it.

    @darktrix Do this but also make gens slower. :)

    Make doing both less rewarding and more time consuming/risky ez fix to the pounding problem.

    They already made hex totems risky (and those were supposed be a secondary objective), mess with my chests and I won't bother even participating in games.

    Everything is already becoming more time consuming and risky with every update.

    I hate to 'put the dog down' on your perk but no Killer would ever use it over perks like Ruin, Nurse' Calling and Barbecue.
