Does lag always works in favor of the killer?

I have faced many times situations where the killers shouldn't have been able to it me, but he did just because the game was lagged.

Either vaulting, or dropping a pallet or just juking him and he literally just touches me with the elbow or he didn't even touched me at all, and i still go down

  • Yes. The killer is the host, he plays on 0ms ping

  • Killers are hosting the game at this moment so if you're already on the other side of a window it will look like you're just vaulting said window for the killer if they have a laggy connection which results in a successful hit. Dedicated servers are coming this year, though and hopefully they'll be fixing stuff so people don't get hit from a mile of distance on their screens.

Yes i have faced that too, a killer hitting you from way too far, which is really unfair. Is there a confirmed date for the dedicated server?

@sluc16 As confirmed as can be on such things: September 2019. Naturally, something on the tech end could always delay it. And keep in mind as well that how good their Netcode is will also be a huge factor on how good the servers run for us. If the netcode isn't done correctly, we're still going to have a host of issues.

Well, I don't expect them to fix everything, but I do hope to see an improvement

  • No latency works dual sided. There are times you go for a swing and then the survivor blinks 10 feet ahead of it. Although, in most cases this does favor the killer. How about times you are close enough to hit someone and it randomly misses. It is balanced since both sides have the same issues. However, I would say it is leaned in the killer side more.

Edit: For example Huntress. Try aiming at something that is skipping pace. Sometimes it is in your favor other times it is not. This is why you might get the "That didn't even...." for hatchets. By the time your signal reached the killer you were already hit.

When i play killer I really haven't felt any issues caused by lag, but yeah I guess sometime the killer must get some too. But still in general affecting more the survivor side

@sluc16 You don't get it. The killer is the host, they're always playing at 0 ping. However, the survivors can get little to a lot of lag depending on the killer's internet (and their own). If you're playing DbD at a McDonalds Restuarant then you'll only get survivors who lag as ######### because the internet you're using is garbage.

  • Most of the time, yes, it helps the killer, but there are times the survivor teleports just out of the killer's reach over and over.
