Solos vs SWF
What need to be changed to close the gap between solos and swf?
Is there even a need? Everyone can invite/set up a discord and invite during the pregame chat.
I see the issue in the advantage the swf getting and how voice is altering the rules of the game.
Should you play assuming everyone is swf/using voice or is there a way to make things fair and balanced you can have clear rules?

Solo players would be stronger if things like Kindred or Bond were free perks and It wouldnt really benefit SWF since they already "have" those perks thanks to voice chat.
As a SWF player I know this wont solve the problem tho. SWF players are strong because they are a team full of people that knows every single trick in the game. I've never played with someone that goes down in the first 10 seconds of a chase tbh.
If devs really want to close the gap between SWF and Solos, Rank System should be based on hours played. If you are bad at the game after 1000h it's your fault and not because you just started playing the game... Veterans would be teamming up with veterans to face veterans and new people would be teamming up with new people to face new people.
This would also lead to killer buffs because they would need the tools to combat this veterans.
How would you balance in your hour based ranked when a swf group wants to play with a friend who is new to the game. So you get a veteran and a newbie in the same group.
Would you balance it around the Veteran and risk the newbie would get stomped if found first and this crushing defeat turns him off to play dbd entirely.
Would you balance it around the newbie so the killer would get looped by the veteran and have an incentive to quit dbd.
Right now we have something in between. The killer roflstomps the newbie but gets looped by the veteran. No one is really happy.
Also there are only that much veterans in every given time and facing the same players over and over again can be unfun and boring too.
It doesnt have to be strictly veterans vs veterans or newbies vs newbies.
It should be something like this:
0-50h
51-150h
151-300h
300h+
If you play SWF and you have someone with 0-50h, and the other 3 are 151-300h you should get the arithmetic mean and place them were they belong.
All they need is a audio/visual notification of when a dull totem is cleansed and where. NOED is mostly the only thing holding them back.
You can't close the gap.
Even if you give solo survivors every mean, it is still not as strong as voice communication in this game, solo survivors will still not be able to organize as effectively as SWF groups. There is only one way and it is to allow communication between players, be it voice com, global chat etc. After that, look at the results and give killers their buffs.
Totem counters, making kindred baseline, more aura perks will not close the gap.
Wouldnt be enough . Solo players should also have info about perks their mates have so basically everythnig swf may have then we can expect killers buffs
about voice...the crux is the following, in theory everyone, even the solos have access to voice.
BHVR don't want to force voice because it was never intended but the cannot forbid it nor control it.
So they say, everyone has access, therefore no need to make it mandatory for the players. Those who want use voice can do it.
The problem is, they never can balance the game, because they will never acknowledge voice, because everybody knows that it divides the community.
We are around 25k players.
If they remove voice 70% will leave, because they cannot play with their friends.
They neither are willing to let the other 30% go, because these solos are playing the game as intended, the game the devs had initial in mind as they created DBD.
Now we are stuck in a limbo, where everybody is/could use voice, but no one is balanced around voice and as long BHVR won't but their foot down and could finally decide on what they want the game to be like, we are stuck in this limbo forever.
The solos and killers of DBD love the original plan of solitude and exposure.
SWF represents the party mentality like Fortnight or PUBG.
They don't want to betray their original game but also cannot afford to lose the majority of swf-players whom bring in the money and playerbase.
They really should opt for voice, give solos similar powers and adjust the killers accordingly.
SWF not only get the info about totems, gens, killer, gates, they also know what gate are open, where the hatch is, who needs help, pallet stun, flashlight saves, bodyblock, who will do gens and who can go saving/helping.
Yes most of the SWF just goof around, but everyone who enables voice (solos and swf alike) can have access to these kind of powers at any given time.
Most chose not to use them, but if needed they will/can use them.
It becomes problematic for the killer, because there are no indication what survivors they are facing and what to expect.
Can I mindgame and outplay that survivor, cutting them of from information or is it futile because they are in voice and communicate regardless of my effort.
This alone kills a lot of playstyles and only allows most brutal and direct builds to be viable with almost no counterplay, Amazing nurse players who ignore all terrain, godlike Billies who can turn on a dime and instasaw you, Prayerbeeds Spirit who can catch you offguard and perhaps Spooky Myers on Leris.
Can you win with other killers? Sure, but it is not consistent.
You cannot play a fair game of DBD when the rules are different each match.
