Why Would Xenomorph King be Bigger/Cooler Than Queen??
I know this is knit pick-y and will come across as too sensitive, but as a huge alien fan it just bothers me. There is no reason to make the male form of a dominant xenomorph more complex and larger than the queen form.
It is putting our cultural standard of the power of a 'king' and 'queen' onto a creature that was originally created to subvert patriarchal power and control.
The xenomorph queen from 'Aliens' is a queen in the insect hive sense. so there is no male counterpart and nothing in the xenomorph species that would be bigger than her.
And I know there is mention of the xenomorph king in the comics or something, so this isn't a concept from the DBD team as much as the source material. But I still have to point it out because it irks me. (especially because his design is sick) (But the unnecessary patriarchal language ruins him for me).
Maybe if he was the size of a normal xenomorph, but with his cool design. Or if the name was something else unrelated to gendered terms, it wouldn't have bothered me.
It's a small complaint but important to me.

the king is no more male than the queen. xenomorphs are hermaphroditic.
and kings arent nearly as useful as a queen, they have a very small, specialised role as a super praetorian. no king in a hive is monday through friday for a xenomorph. no queen in a hive is red alert warning warning all hands on deck this is not a drill.
yeah the king looks cooler, but thats not bc it uses a male dominated term, its because it was designed later

it's larger than the queen because that's how it is, not some decision by BHVR
This entire post feels off to me. The Xeno king wasn't given more detail than the queen because of "patriarchy", that's just its design, presumably for the purpose of being intimidating because it's the hive protector, or simply because it was designed later for a comic series that could afford to give more detail to its designs.
