My thoughts as a new player.

Hello, to everyone who's reading this post.

I'm Tolis, a new player to this game - started on June '26. I'm taking the time to write this post to reflect my thoughts and opinions on this game. I hope this gets to someone on the board of the DBD devs.

First of all, i like this game, i really do. My first impression was really nice, even though i am completely new to this type of games. Now, with all that really made me have some solid opinion, after 153 hours of playtime by the time of writing this post.

Most importantly, every game feels like playing against perks instead of actual skill - both survivors and killers. The perks i see 99% of my games are Decisive strike, Dead hard, Lithe, Sprint burst, Scourge hook, eruption, hex: ruin. While there are a ton of perks in the game, we see the same ones over and over again. I will not just complain about it, i will actually recommend something - Each perk of survivors should be unique for each survivor, for example, only one of the survivors can bring ds, dh and lithe, same as it is in 2v8. Each player has to choose one of the 4 classes, each class having its own specific perks. The perks should be categorized to the games ranking system for example Survival - if all 4 survivors bring survival perks, they should get a bonus to surviving, or repairing, etcetera. The goal here is to make rewarding strategy and not every game to be standard perks. Quests and bonuses to rewards can also bring the less popular perks back to life.

As a killer now. It feels like really unfair for most of the killers. What i mean is that killers such as trapper, ghostface, skull merchant, are really underpowered, compared to the newest addition - Judgement (which ill talk about soon). Trapper can step on his own traps - not only he being the weakest killer in the game, he even gets countered by his own kit. Ghostface can be revealed and break his power - he should be able to stalk, stab and oneshot even after being revealed. Skull merchant is non existent. The judgement takes no skill to play, you can charge and send your beam across the entire map and defend gens without effort - the cooldown of the pillar should be 3 times longer if it misses in my opinion, to reward good players and punish lazy ones.

The game modes, 2v8 is the one thats most fun and unfair in my opinion. Unfair meaning that all killers should be enabled, its a fun mode, everyone is playing to have fun and laugh. There should be chaos, which is the reason we play that mode.

Now for both sides, the map rng is really really bad. I feel like i play 2-story interior maps waaaaaaay too often. One of the biggest issues is ingame currency. Im not talking about relic cells, which i support the game and respect, but the bloodpoints.

It feels like it takes waaaaaaaaay too long to earn bloodpoints and prestige my favorite characters for their perks. I need 3,1milion bloodpoints for a prestige 3, which is about 35 games as survivor. Why is it taking so long? We don't have all the time to play after work and life responsibilities, it feels like ages to progress the game. This can be easily addressed with ingame quest rewards, and base bloodpoints of each match. The base earnings should be 3times of what it is now and i believe everyone can agree with me.

I know about the graphics update coming soon which is amazing, but as players, graphics are really not that important, if the game is fun to play and rewarding us for the time we invest to it, especially even more if the developers listen to the players, which i can see that you guys are taking your time to read our comments. What i posted above, i believe expresses me and most of the current player base and we would love to see these issues taken care of, sooner than the graphics update.

Thank you for your time reading this, i hope this message reaches the team and we see the game getting better for everyone of us.

    • On survivors only being able to bring 1 of each perk ,there would be a lot of frustration on who gets to bring what perk, and you make an entire build for soloque and suddenly half your perks are shut off because someone else alredy loaded in with them. I get some of the strongest perks are annoying to deal with, but knowing the enemy's perks is part of adapting strategy, for example you know someone has ds and they actively get in your face to protect the unhooker, you can now slug them and then chase the unhooker with 3/4 of the team busy off generators rather than just chasing 1 with 3 on generators.
    • As for weaker killers we all that "power creep" as the game is evolving over time leaving the older basic killers in the dust. All we can do about that is hope for eventual reworks and buffs. As trapper and skull merchant alredy have reworks being worked on currently. (Ghost face can also still 1 shot people while out of stealth - if he manages to mark them, which some find quite easy to do mid chase, or mark them to 99% before closing in or chasing them later)
    • As for bloodpoints i agree it takes too long and doesn't feel rewarding. As an owner of 9.9 prestige 100s (im working on one thats 95 right now) it barely feels like you earn anything on a basic eventless day of playing. They seem to have trouble balancing it as a survive with friends team of 4 ensuring they bring stacked anniversary cakes every round seem to be the fastest road to prestiging, but as a solo player its quite slow. But they also don't want you to prestige everyone on the roster to 3 in a week and have nothing else to prestige for. Events also make you skyrocket through prestiges, especially bloodmoon and anniversary. Like Shane Wiigwass is the one i have at 95 and he came out around when u started, all because of the cakes and event bonus points.

Pretty much everything I wanted to say. I will also add a couple things:

    • While aura on the Judgment is kind of busted right now and makes it way easier to get snipes, Judgment as a character does require a lot of skill as you get better at the game and go against stronger opponents. The difference I've had between a new Judgment crutching on aura perks versus a skilled Judgment who might also have some aura perks is astounding.
    • I'm not sure how much you've run into these things, but DBD is extremely buggy due to it's poor coding being based on an old "spaghetti code" foundation BHVR made 10 years ago. Like I said, this makes the game incredibly buggy, but also limits a lot of what they're team is able to do with the game (such as being unable to add replays). I'm happy to tell you though that the graphics overhaul is also a coding overhaul, basically rebuilding the game from scratch. We're also supposed to get a full modding suite, although I'm not sure if that's at the same time. So there is a lot to look forward to there, lets just hope we get some good killer balance changes in the meantime (please help my boy Ghostie)
