[Event Suggestion] New Secret Passage Solo Escape Gameplay Framework (Balanced & Event-Only)
Dear Behaviour Team and fellow community players,
I'm an overseas player who's really into Dead by Daylight. My English isn't perfect, so I used AI to organize the language and logic of my ideas. But the inspiration for this Secret Passage design is all mine, merely drawing some references from asymmetric games like Texas Chain Saw Massacre, not from AI at all.
I'd like to share a brand - new Secret Passage gameplay concept specifically designed for limited - time event modes. This concept aims to introduce fresh secondary escape gameplay without altering or disrupting the core rules of regular and ranked matches. All numerical values and balance details can be adjusted freely by the development team.
- Basic Design Premise
The two classic core escape rules will always stay the same:
- Team escape by repairing generators and opening exit gates.
- Solo Hatch escape for the last remaining survivor.
The Secret Passage mechanic is exclusive to an independent limited - time event mode. It won't have any impact on the official meta, ranked balance, or standard matchmaking experience. Players can freely decide whether to participate in this event mode or not.
- Dual Unlock Mechanic (Power Requirement + Exclusive Key Item)
To activate the secret passage, two conditions need to be met simultaneously:
1. Power threshold lock: At the start of the trial, the passage is electrically locked. It can only be activated when there are exactly two generators left unrepaired. Each repaired generator will light up one indicator, showing the progress.
2. Special key requirement: Power alone isn't enough to unlock the passage. Survivors must search the map to find a unique Passage Key. An alternative way to obtain this key could be that it's initially carried by the Killer. Survivors can only loot the Passage Key from the Killer after stunning them with certain survivor perks like “Head - On” (a stun - related perk), blinding the Killer with a flashlight, or stunning the Killer with a pallet stun. The passage can only be activated after getting the key and meeting the power condition.
The official team can freely modify aspects like the key's spawn quantity, spawn range, and the difficulty of obtaining it for balancing purposes.
- Strict Core Restrictions
1. Only one survivor can escape through the secret passage per trial. Once used, the passage locks permanently and can't be activated again.
2. Survivors who escape via the passage leave their teammates in the ongoing trial, and the match continues as normal for the remaining players.
3. Activating or entering the secret passage doesn't trigger any global killer alerts or highlighted notifications, maintaining the mind - game and patrol judgment space for the killer.
4. Hatch Restriction: If a survivor escapes through the secret passage during the trial, the Hatch won't unlock automatically when only one survivor is left. Survivors can still open the Hatch manually with a regular Hatch Key, but the automatic unlock feature is disabled as a consequence of using the secret passage.
- Self - Balancing Gameplay Core
This framework has a natural in - built balance mechanism:
The base game's generator repair speed is related to the number of alive survivors. If a survivor chooses to escape early through the secret passage, the team's repair efficiency and chase - endurance drop instantly.
For example, if there are three survivors alive with two generators remaining, and one survivor escapes solo, only two survivors are left to finish the generators. The survivor team's overall efficiency drops significantly, naturally tilting the match advantage towards the killer.
All further balance adjustments, such as channel time, killer hints, and key spawn rates, can be adjusted freely by your team.
- Hatch Experience Optimization (Bonus Improvement)
Once the secret passage becomes available, all players get vague regional hints about the Hatch's location without precise HUD markers.
This improves the awkward end - game situation where two remaining survivors might betray each other for a Hatch tie. The hint radius can be adjusted as needed.
- Gameplay Positioning & Design Purpose
1. The secret passage is only a desperate backup escape option and will never replace the traditional gate - escape as the main gameplay.
2. This event - only framework offers a flexible new creative module for future seasonal events.
3. New players can completely ignore the key - obtaining mechanic and play the normal generator - repair and gate - escape way, so the game's learning curve won't increase.
Personal Note & Open Feedback
This is just my personal gameplay concept. I know some parts of this design might seem imperfect, unreasonable, or not fully developed from the official and community viewpoints. I sincerely welcome all players and the development team to give any criticisms, corrections, balance suggestions, or optimization ideas. I'm open to all kinds of feedback and discussions.
This concept is completely adaptable and ready for any revisions.
Thank you for reading my suggestion! I hope this new event gameplay can bring more diverse fun to Dead by Daylight.
Sryy again

Where are all these ai posts coming from
People being lazy and inventing like one sentence idea then feeding it to an AI to write it out.
Add this new rule to section 3
If any survivor successfully escapes through the secret passage during the trial, the Hatch will no longer automatically unlock when only one survivor remains alive at the end of the game. Survivors can still use a regular purple Hatch key to manually open the Hatch, only the automatic unlock feature will be disabled as a trade-off for using the secret passage.
Sorry that my writing looks AI-generated. My English is poor, so I only used AI to organize my scattered ideas into neat sentences. Every core gameplay rule, balance restriction and the hatch lock design of the secret passage is my original creation, none of these ideas came from AI. Thank you for your honest feedback!
