Feedback on MacMillan Visual Update 10th Anniversary: Audio concerns for Spirit Mains

Hi team,

The new updated game visuals for the MacMillan Estate shown in the 10th Anniversary Stream look absolutely beautiful! However, as a Spirit Main, I am very concerned about the implementation of weather effects like rain and thunder.

Spirit relies entirely on precise audio cues (breathing, footsteps, moans of pain) while phasing. Constant background noise from a storm will make it incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to track Survivors properly

Since this is still a work in progress, please ensure that these awesome visual changes do not negatively impact the competitive audio design. It would be amazing if you could either keep the ambient storm noise very quiet or add an option to adjust ambient weather volume.

  • The weather effects in the game now don't even work right. Certain effects on Lake Ormond cause the blizzard to be reapplied every time they happens, leading to more and more and more snow obscurring the screen. The most easily replicable one is switching perspectives in spectactor mode, but it could happen with certain events too, albeit not spammable to the point where the entire screen would be white like you can do in spectator.

There is no way whatsoever that the code for this won't cause another fifty thousand bugs, audio occulision, and accessibility issues.

Maybe audio from weather effect would be disabled when using spirit powers

  • Wouldn't footsteps be louder when it's raining? depending on the terrain? very sloshy heavy footsteps. It depends on the implementation. you might even see where the rain splashes against the survivor

I personally would love her to get some quality of life for playing as her and against her. IDK what, but it'd be awesome if she was a bit more friendly to pick up without headphones, or play against her without headphones.
