Sub-Roles Idea for Killers
What if killers were categorised by a sub-role and this aside offering base-kit passives; it also effects how strong certain perks are on them too. I was inspired by Overwatch and their sub-role system, and yes I know an FPS isn't exactly the same as DBD but there could still be some potential here; so hear me out. I came up with 3 sub-roles for the time being, them being; Chaser, Hybrid and Specialist.
Chaser - Killers who have high mobility and is the main or sole part of their power.
Example - Hillbilly, Nurse, Blight, Oni, Spirit and Ghoul.
Passive - Weaker adjusted version of Deerstalker, on hooking a survivor the killer sees the aura of the survivor with the least amount of chase time for 10s. Additionally the current generator with the most progress is highlighted for 20s.
Hybrid - Killers who are a mix of the two other roles, so they have a degree of mobility but also have some other power(s) too.
Example - Nightmare, Clown, Demogorgon, Dredge. Mastermind, Singularity, Dark Lord, Lich, Animatronic.
Passive - Kicking a generator after hooking a survivor causes 5% additional regression. I'm not sure what else just yet...
Specialist - They have very little or no mobility, with their power likely some form of slowdown or map control.
Example - Trapper, Huntress, Hag, Pig, Ghostface, Artist, Plague, Deathslinger, Skull Merchant.
Passive - Weaker Corrupt Intervention with the 3 furthest generators blocked for 40s at the beginning of the match. Additionally the role also gains 10% Haste for 10s after hooking a survivor or after damaging a generator with a basic attack.
I considered that perhaps these passives are fixed values and are not effected by diminishing returns, but they also cannot stack with anything else, so should there be a stronger effect in play; that will take priority over the base. i.e. if you run Lethal Purser on the Chaser role, it will not extend the timer of the survivor/generator aura passives, or if you ran Corrupt Intervention on Specialists then that will overwrite the base effect of the role etc. I also mentioned how roles could effect perks too and the idea is these would have 2 or 3 different values depending on the role. One example is Batteries Included, this Haste effect could be 4% for Chasers, but for Specialists it is 6% instead. Barbeque And Chilli reveals auras for 5s, this may stay the same for Chasers but for Specialists it could be increased to 10s, with the reasoning for the difference in aura durations is Chasers have the mobility to capitalise on the information while slower Specialist killers often need the extra time to do anything with it, such as traveling across the map. Of course the numbers are open to being adjusted as they are merely just examples at this point, but having these roles could help buff the weaker killers while possibly having a way to control the stronger ones to some degree.
