Killer Concept: Pennywise / IT
Core Mechanic — Fear
Each
survivor has a Fear meter. The higher it is, the stronger Pennywise
becomes. Fear increases when survivors are chased, encounter illusions,
or hear Pennywise nearby. Fear decreases when survivors stay close
together and complete generators successfully.
Phase 1 — The Hungry Clown
Pennywise
starts weak and slow. He cannot down survivors efficiently. His goal in
this phase is purely psychological — he places red balloons around the
map as traps, creates illusions of survivors' fears, and emits sounds to
disorient. Every scare feeds him.
Phase 2 — The True IT
Once
enough Fear is accumulated across survivors, Pennywise transforms.
Speed and lethality increase significantly. He gains access to sewer
teleportation — disappearing underground and emerging elsewhere after a
short delay with an audio cue. Survivors know he has transitioned. Real
panic begins.
Survivor Counterplay
Survivors
can push Pennywise back to Phase 1 by grouping together and suppressing
their fear. However, staying together means slower generator progress.
This creates the core tension of every match — split up and work fast,
or stay together and keep the monster weak.
This
mechanic is directly inspired by IT's lore — the children defeated
Pennywise by standing together and refusing to be afraid.
Comments
I would like this power on him:
Power: Terror
Press the power button to release cross map wave that put any touched survivor into dying state, has 27s cooldown.
Special traversal: canalization
Press the button at chosen location to emerge from it.
Special ability: Lights
Hold and tap the button to leave behind remains of light, survivors in close proximity will be sucked into it and will have to struggle to escape it. If they fail, they will levitate for 60s and must be saved by teammates, counts as hook. After 60s the survivor will be automatically sacrificed if not saved.
Special items balloons:
Baloons prevented being downed from terror and inflict deep wound instead. But are destroyed in the process. baloons can be also used for more effective struggle at light remains.
