Don’t Forget About The Hag! – Rework Ideas

I believe that The Hag is currently one of the weakest Killers in the game.

When it comes to buffing The Hag, many players suggest simply increasing her movement speed to 4.6 m/s. While that would certainly make her feel better to play, I don’t think it would fundamentally solve her problems.

In my opinion, bringing The Hag closer to a more modern design would require significant changes, not just a speed adjustment.

Base Kit Change

  • Remove the limit on teleport distance.
  • Traps become completely invisible to Survivors when they are more than 5 meters away.
  • The Hag can remotely activate any of her traps. The Phantasm created by this is called a “Drowsing Phantasm.” This ability cannot be used for 10 seconds after teleporting.
  • Traps used for teleportation are automatically reset.
  • After teleporting, The Hag gains 15% Haste for 3 seconds.
  • While a Phantasm with a Terror Radius exists, The Hag gains Undetectable.
  • If a Survivor is interacting with a trap when it is remotely activated, The Hag teleports instantly.

Drowsing Phantasm

  • A Drowsing Phantasm always faces The Hag.
  • Upon appearing, it has no Terror Radius and cannot be teleported to.
  • After 3 seconds, it gains a Terror Radius and becomes teleportable.
  • A Drowsing Phantasm is destroyed instantly if a Survivor touches it.
  • It disappears 15 seconds after spawning.

The teleport distance restriction is a leftover from an era when traps could only be destroyed by flashlights and Survivors did not have post-unhook Endurance. In the current environment, this limitation is no longer necessary.

With remote trap activation and Drowsing Phantasms, Mint Rag is integrated into her base kit. This allows The Hag to move rapidly across the map, mitigating her biggest weakness when setting traps—her slow movement speed.

Additionally, because traps are not consumed when used, the time spent re-setting traps is drastically reduced. When a trap is no longer needed, it can be removed by remotely activating it without teleporting.

Furthermore, gaining Undetectable while a Phantasm is active enables interesting plays, such as ambushing Survivors by choosing not to teleport after activation, or creating confusion during chases.

Expanding The Hag’s trap and Phantasm mechanics is, in my opinion, a more reasonable approach that stays true to her design than simply increasing her movement speed to 4.6 m/s.
More importantly, having a wider range of options makes her more enjoyable to play.

Thank you for reading.
I would appreciate your feedback.

  • The biggest problem with Hag is that traps can be easily removed. Just adjusting this alone would make a significant difference, wouldn't it?

  • Thanks.

There is nothing more demoralizing than watching carefully placed traps get easily removed one by one, and as you said, making traps harder to remove would undoubtedly make The Hag stronger.
However, much like the idea of increasing her movement speed to 4.6 m/s, I don’t think numerical buffs alone would improve The Hag’s currently dismal pick rate.

(Of course, I understand that winning isn’t everything.)
Still, it feels like The Hag’s power has been left far too far behind by the current game environment.
