title. once the survivor is revealed the aura is still 3 seconds instead of 5

    This is true because Deerstalker isn't like other aura read perks. You're not applying aura read in the same way you would with Lethal, instead you're giving the survivor aura read on you. Since it's the survivor seeing you that triggers Deerstalker, it still only lasts as long as they can read your aura.
