Alien feels like a ranged killer, but without any range.
As long as a pallet still standing, the Alien can't do anything about it. The only way to get value from tail attack is when a survivor is stuck in animation.

The tail attack is shorter than a lunge. So the tail is only better in situations where it can hit a survivor when a lunge couldn't.
it is same distance as lunge. a lunge is 5.2 when account for survivor movement differential. xeno is 4.8 BUT he can move for 0.2 seconds running forward as tail attack goes off.
I am not sure what emperical total distance of lunge is but i think it is 6 meters of total distance+1.2-1.5 meters hitbox in front of you. This is what I think it is but i am not sure. there is almost nothing written about this anywhere. this is what i can see from judging distances when playing in-game.
