If the Nicolas Cage perks are allowed to exist, why did Background Player need to be changed?
I've been salty about the Background Player changes since they were introduced, because I had a few awesome builds in my mind involving Guardian that'd make for some pretty awesome escapes, but the devs decided to absolutely obliterate the perk due to community concerns over the perk being used to "farm" survivors.
This bothered me a lot because if the killer is going to tunnel, they don't need Background Player as an excuse to do so, but I bit my tongue because, well, maybe it's for the best. Maybe I'm just too narrow-minded and I'm not seeing the big picture here.
But now you're telling me that people can literally just self-destruct from minute 1 to prevent even a bot taking over if they disconnect, and everyone's cheering about it? No one is concerned about people just starting the game and letting themselves instantly die?
The moment you're injured you can just force yourself to bleed out without your team mates being able to do anything about it. And, if I understood this correctly, you can just do that from the start of the game with No Mither... and no one is concerned about it?
Now, don't get me wrong. This is not me trying to get the new perks changed. People will troll a match if they want to regardless of what the perks do. But it is precisely because of this why I ask... what was the point of complaining about Background Player? Why did that perk need to be changed, and why are these other ones getting a pass?

Background Player is still good, for the record, it wasn't obliterated.
Still, I think what's being missed here is that Background Player's PTB version basically required farming your teammates to use, unless you brought some very specific extra perks to pair it with. It's a little different from Plot Twist because the default use of the perk was negative, actually using its effect as intended without any supporting perks would - with no ill intention on any player's part - result in teammates getting tunnelled and farmed far more frequently.
Compare to Plot Twist, where the default use case of the perk is to spend a little longer healing yourself in a corner. It's not great, don't get me wrong, it'll take brains to use it in a way that isn't a net negative, but it's not actively screwing over your teammates in a very direct way, either. People can use a ton of perks to troll if they want to, their intentional desire to mess with the game wasn't what got Background Player changed- it was that players who had no such ill will and just didn't really think things through much would farm their teammates more.
That, combined with it just not being very good in general, got Background Player changed to something just as niche, but more usable and without that negative default use case.
(Also, we don't know if these perks are getting a pass...? The PTB isn't over yet, we don't know what's being changed.)
Why would survivors use Plot Twist and No Mither at the start of the match to slug themselves? They could just run No Mither, find the killer and achieve the same. Least they’d get some BPs out of it.

Yea, if I am running Corrupt Intervention, you have my permission to bring Plot Twist and No Mither just so you can waste Plot Twist and be stuck broken the entire match.
