FPS selection please!

It's 2023, why can't we select our FPS within the game?

  • Well, there is only one reason to not being able to do it: The game is designed to have a constant FPS. This is pretty common to do in console exclusive games as normally a console have limited hardware that only allows for a certain number of FPS and it is technically easier to calculate certain things like physics, collisions and such this way.

If I'm right and DbD was designed this way, changing it would mean changing all the base logic of the game so I don't think this is happening.

They are able to do it. You can currently elevate the FPS limit by inserting a line of text into the Engine.ini file and modifying settings in the GameUserSettings.ini file. If I recall correctly, you used to be able to do so without the Engine.ini file but that changed for some reason. Given that raising the FPS cap is already something possible by altering the files, all they have to do is grant us the hability of changing these configurations from within the game menu.

Really, the only reason they have not done so is because someone somewhere does not want to.

If that's the case, another QoL thing that is not already in the game just because they just not want to do it, apparently.
