making the game scary
anyone have any ideas that would be more scary and fun regardless of balance
mine would be to remove the red stain giving the killer red headlights makes them obvious and not scary i played a game againsts a sneaky knight and it was fun as hell he would be undetectable and you would just hear crashing metal boots in the distance wish there was more of that all the time

I think it comes down mostly to quality of graphics. We'd need way more detailed/better shadowed models with a bit of motion blur as well.
this is true i saw a fan make a video of haddonfield with rtx and it was alot scarier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOPwjRIBQx8&t=189sWell, there is no fog in this game. maybe if bhvr added a stronger fog that would actually work on vision it would be scary.
Judging by how my friends pc went to 11 FPS when all 5 of us brought murky reagents in custom, I doubt they would do this.
get better pc tbh
Removing the red stain is a pretty big balance change.
Personally I would add more fog and add more spooky sounds to the maps. Factory sounds in the meat plant for example
Oh if survivors didnt actually wanto to be in the red stain then surely being in the red light would be tenser/scarier, but this implies balance adjustments.
Well this isnt really about "scary", but maybe a lighting/shadow engine like in left 4 dead? Although I'm not sure just making maps darker and giving survivors a toggleable pipboy/chest mounted flashlight and killers a flashlight-red stain/nightvision/killervision is the way to go. But having characters cast a shadow when infront a lightsource might be quite atmospheric.
Weather also can influence a mood, be it fog, wind, rain or thunder.
Music can influence stuff too, compare yet again L4D getting choked by a smoker or hunter to hanging on a hook in dbd. Opening a chest also lacks the epic zelda jingle.
Then we ask bHVR to change the way they do the fog.
That looks dope!
fr my boy got a gt 730
