Corrective Action buff idea
Currently, Corrective Action doesn't see a lot of use. I have a buff idea that'd make the perk a lot better at it's job, while not changing it's identity too much.
Corrective Action
You quickly analyse problems and correct others' work when they make a mistake.
You start the Trial with 1/2/3 Token(s) and gain a Token each time you succeed at a Great Skill Check, up to a maximum of 5 Tokens.
Whenever a Survivor within 16 meters of you fails any skill check, 1 token is consumed and their failed Skill Check becomes a good Skill Check.
Once out of range, this effect persists for 15 seconds.
There are 2 changes in this idea:
First, Corrective Action now applies to survivors near you, eliminating the need to be performing a cooperative action with another survivor to use the perk. For example, if a survivor is healing you and misses a skill check, it will be transformed into a good one. Furthermore, it will help combat "Phantom Skill Checks", when a survivor lets go of a generator.
Secondly, Corrective Action now applies to any Skill Check, not just regular ones. This means perks such as Oppression, Overcharge and Merciless Storm will now be countered by the perk.
These changes would make the perk a lot less situational, and give a lot more opportunities for it to activate.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on these ideas, and any other changes you'd make to the perk.
Comments
Any buffs for weak perks is alright. But this perk is new player friendly perk, so most likely good survivors will not use it.
I think it'd have a decent amount of value for good survivors, since it helps your teammates, who might not be as good at hitting Skill Checks.
Oppression and Merciless Storm are already weak perks so I don’t really like the idea of this countering it. But the linger effect is good.
Something else I thought about was making it increase your own skill check chances slightly (eg. 2-3% or something small) to have more opportunities to build up tokens as well as gain additional bonus progress with great skill checks, making it useful for its current effect but also allowing you to potentially boost your own healing and repair actions more often.
Corrective Action would be a lot cooler if it also worked on healing skill checks.
I don't think Corrective Action countering Oppression and Merciless Storm would be an issue, personally. It's a pretty niche perk, and niche perks should be good at doing what they do.
Increasing the skill check chance slightly is an interesting idea, that'd give it a little bit of extra utility besides helping your team.
Fun fact: it actually does, it's just you HAVE to be healing a survivor alongside another survivor. The requirements for Corrective Action are just too restrictive currently.
