They are Grey offerings which don't add much to the game, but if they were secret to the other team it could be both a mind game and a slight edge against the other side. Such as, if one survivor was to run a hatch offering, and the killer also ran a hatch offering, neither side would know what the other ran, canceling each other out, while also maybe making the other side sweat because they might fear for a more powerful offering

    i feel like i sometimes get better value out of a hatch offering by baiting the killer into camping it meanwhile I just immediately bee-line it for a Gate.

    I got a gate escape the other night by waiting for the killer to find hatch. Legit strategy.

    The hatch offerings should straight up be removed - at least from the survivor side. They could’ve just done that instead of gutting the hatch and keys. It should always be a RNG feature.
