SoloQ needs help! Your upcoming changes seem great, but SoloQ needs some TLC too!
The key issue with DBD that causes the entire balance within the game to be thrown so out of control is the fact that SoloQ and SWF are like night and day in terms of power they possess. SWF, particularly with a group of 4 players on comms, have such a MASSIVE advantage over those who play Solo that it may as well be 2 different games.
They have such a broad access to so many different varieties of information that they may as well have 30+ different info perks equipped. Why would they run perks like Kindred or Alert when their friends can just tell them every step the Killer does? Every pallet that's dropped? Every Gen that is nearly finished?
Instead they choose to run meta perks that offer second chances, and some that simply exist to be band-aids for core game issues, such as Borrowed Time existing solely so being unhooked in front of the Killer doesn't result in you immediately being downed again, with you having no control over the situation.
Nerfing the meta perks IS a good thing, but only if base changes to the game are made as a result, which you are starting to do, but not nearly as much as you SHOULD be doing. Have some confidence!
- The new base kit Borrowed Time should be 7 seconds, with Borrowed Time doubling the duration.
- An unhooked Survivor within this timeframe should at least get twice to three times as fast wiggle progress speed for around 30-40 seconds.
- Survivors need a bleed-out button while slugged, the fact that this hasn't been added yet is so frustrating because Killers can waste so much of your time with no penalty whatsoever. An optional button to at least double the bleed-out speed would ONLY improve the game.
- Survivors should have access to a base kit weaker version of Kindred that shows off when teammates are within a certain distance of a hooked Survivor, say around 30 or so meters, with Kindred still justifying it's existence by allowing you to ALSO see the Killer.
This of course is also keeping in mind the upcoming icons being added to show Survivors what their teammates are currently doing.
The main reason to point this out and suggest these changes is because, especially for new players, Killer feels very strong.
This is not the case, with a few exceptions, but regardless SoloQ will suffer in the early to mid MMR levels with new and frankly mediocre Survivors struggling against something they already struggled with even more.
SWF is too strong and SoloQ is too weak, so you have done 2 of the 3 things you need to do.
You buffed Killer, you nerfed the meta Survivor perks, and now for the final big balance change you NEED to give SoloQ the love it so desperately needs.
Please do this one thing and this update will be the start of a DBD Golden Age.
