Why is there no visual indicator for Nightfall's approach?

This really doesn't seem in line with other killer powers - especially the passive ones. You can clearly see:

  • How much time before you fall asleep against Nightmare (Freddy)
  • When chain hunt will begin while facing Pinhead
  • When you'll be broken against Plague
  • How much Sadako (Oynro) has condemned you
  • How many more blades until you'll lose a health state by Trickster

But Nightfall? You only get a brief audio cue just seconds before it starts, dimming your field of view greatly. Why aren't survivors given a more meaningful heads up?

  • Probably because you can't do anything about it. It just happens, and goes away after a minute.

Same reason why you they got rid of the warning for Myers, why warn someone of something they have no counter for?

  • BHVR is really REALLY bad with giving important information for both sides. Many of the statuses you talk about the KILLER can't see what's happening when in most cases they should.

Honestly they should just make both killers and survivors see all important power details like that.

  • My guess is that it's not important enough information to know how far progressed nightfall is, and that survivors have basically no control over the meter (unlike trickster, plague, etc)

  • Personally I wish there was less telegraphing of killer powers and effects.

Imagine a horror film where every jumpscare or surprise had a lil warning window come up to announce it before it happened.

There are definitely good reasons to withholding certain information. Survivors not seeing their stalk progress against Ghost Face for example. That woul hurt him a lot. Or Plague not seeing the vomit progress of survivors.

In Dredge's case, there is probably no visual indicator because for one, it makes it a bit more suspenseful, not knowing when Nightfall will happen until right before, and for another, because it would be useless information on the survivors side, since nothing prevents the Nightfall.

  • I don't see a problem adding an indicator to when nightfall will begin. It's not like survivors can avoid it happening. They can't go hide in a locker, Dredge could just show up in it. 😂 It would really just be a time keeper more than anything.

  • I think Freddy's power comes closest to be analogous, but there is an important distinction between the two powers: Freddy's power can be halted through the clocks, interrupted through skill checks or waking up, or be applied immediately after a hit. All of these things make it very inconsistent in terms of durations, which is likely why we have the timer on our icon.

Dredge's power on the other hand is completely automatic. It can't be stopped, it can't be initiated on command, nothing. It just happens when it happens and ends when it ends. The only thing that can change about it is how quickly it'll happen, as the meter charges faster when survivors injured or hooked. But that doesn't change its inevitability. So why bother showing that information? For Dredge, the information is crucial for locker teleports and cooldowns, but for survivors, it doesn't matter how quickly nightfall comes and when it goes away again.

  • Not sure why this got moved to feedback.. it wasn't feedback, just a question. But whatevs.

  • I think it’s fine that there’s no indicator. As others have said, it’s not something that can be stopped. Also, it applies to everyone at once. Freddy’s sleep timers can be different for every survivor. Although tbh I think freddy should be able to see the clock as well, I don’t see much reason for withholding that information.

Also just to clarify - the nightfall warning sound happens when it’s 85% charged.

  • If anything, I'd like to see the Dredge have control of Nightfall but that's neither here nor there... lol

  • There is a warning though? Before it triggers, you get a visual screen effect AND an audio cue, giving you time to prepare for it.
