These Changes could Stop Certain Cheaters

If there's anything we can all agree on, I think that we can all agree that cheaters are horrible, especially the ones that just go into a false hook state to either block you from your kill OR hold YOU hostage.

But there's two simple changes that could be applied just to make the situation more manageable for Killers and Survivors alike.

Change #1: Hook State Changes

  • Survivors who are considered as "on hook" will now become intangible for the first 30 seconds of being in this state, after which the Killer will be pushed away from the surrounding area of the hooked Survivor.
  • Survivors who are unhooked will remain intangible for the first 10 seconds after being unhooked.
  • Survivors who are considered as "on hook" cannot prevent actions from being taken by Survivor or Killer.

These three changes will prevent cheating Survivors from holding the exit gates hostage near endgame, and would ensure that both Survivors and Killers can manage to open the gates.

The second change in particular would also kill two birds with one stone, preventing not only cheaters from exploiting the game, but also certain players who basically want to force you to tunnel them when you, as a Killer, just want to play fair.

Change #2: Endgame Collapse's Immediate Ending

  • Once the Endgame Collapse timer runs out, the game will now automatically end after 10 seconds.

This change would make it so that if a cheater is still considered as being "hooked", it won't take upwards of 2 hours for the match to end. Instead, now you just have to wait a whole 10 seconds.

Doesn't this sound like something we can all agree would be beneficial for the game?

Comments

  • Wouldn't hackers just set their status to "on hook" and push the killer around the map?

It sounds less like you're concerned with hacking and more with giving survivors borrowed time base on top of free uninterruptible unhooks.

  • I dont think that changes like that would fix cheaters. It is the cheat detection that needs to be improved. TBH there should be pretty obvious signatures that identify cheaters and cancelling a game where you detect a cheater should be the solution.

If you do workarounds like that, you will soon see "workaround hacks" to counter them, like modifying the 10 second endgame counter
