Time to change Map Offerings
i'm sure this has come up before, but i'm bringing it up again.
Map Offerings need to change. they provide too much control to players over the trial, and this becomes very unbalanced in certain hands, such as SWFs, or the Starstruck Nurse on Midwich.
Map Offerings should instead BAN the map in question so it will not be chosen. Or, at least, significantly reduce the percentage chance of going to that map. Might be fun to keep at least a small percentage chance.
This would go a long way to reducing the abusive, exploitive aspects of the game.

bump for the midchapter. would love to see this.
no. balance maps. dont ban them what is the point there will be just 1 less map forever. i like how everyone including BHVR forgor April 2020 update when they changed 10+ maps and said theyll keep going and then. graphical reworks with MINIMUM gameplay changes is sadge
April 2020 they reduced Temple of Purgation significantly and 1+ year later released Eyrie of Crows. it seems like team is changing every 6 mnonths((
ok i take last sentence back
they, ostensibly, can do two things.
1) no one should be able to pick a map to favor themselves. banning makes more sense.
2) they've shown no indication of major map balancing/overhaul in the near term. so we can take the bandaid for now while still pushing for rebalancing.
Yea I'd rather they focus on actually balancing the maps. This kind of future would be more of a bandaid fix to compensate for the maps being so bad.
The point is that we shouldn't need a future like this in the first place, heck we shouldn't even have map offerings in the first place.
If all maps were balanced, you'd only place am offering because you like that specific maps aesthetic or you know it better than the others
that's fine, but do you expect that to happen any time soon? exactly.
ok, so here in reality, we can switch to bans, or keep things how they are, while we still push for balancing. one doesn't preclude the other.
idk if even this is good. i think the best bandaid for now is make sacrificial ward refund if there was no map offerings
It's still just a bandaid fix. Plus you'd only be able to ban one map while there's several others that are just as bad or even worse. At max there would only be five maps banned
that's ok. while i know that DbD isn't properly a competitive game, if we're striving to reach more balance and fairness, stage banning is a common thing among competitive communities to rule out maps that may be unreasonably disadvantageous for oneself.
all of that is fine for me. in no competitive community can you ban everything. you get maybe one or two bans.
of course, you don't have to agree if you don't think it would help the game in the short term.
