Is Every Developer On Break or Something?

Blood Pact + OoO is running rampant in almost every game, Nurse is still having issues, and we still haven't gotten out rank reset rewards. Is there not a single employee at BHVR on weekends that could killswitch or fix things?

No, it seems very unreasonable to have even one person on call in the eventuality of such a trivial matter. It's a waste of money. Besides, just for the sake of argument : as MandyTalk pointed out, this kind of issue requires a lead and you don't put a lead on call. This is usually grunt work.

This is a pretty rare occurrence and it would be even less of an issue if less noise had been made about it.

Some games may have survivors exploiting this. Big deal, how worse is it that the plethora of cheaters plaguing the game?

That's why I said my agreement depends solely on what the issue is. Regardless companies should always have people in place to fix (or bandaid fix if possible) severe issues on weekends. A company would be smart to do so.

Not on a break no, but we do work Mondays to Fridays and have weekends off...like most companies do.

Work/Life balance is something that Behaviour Interactive take very seriously.

As this is probably coming from discussions around the killswitch, it would need more than a skeleton crew to make that decision as it's more of a Lead decision - it's pretty rare for things to come up on a weekend and most of our work is done during our working week. It is unfortunate that all this came to light on a weekend.

Wait, working seven days a week isn't normal?

But, like--Health insurance and vacation days are still a plot device, right? They aren't actual things that regular workers get?

... Am I getting taken advantage of?

Yes, particularly if working for a major company, your labour is being exploited.

  • Honestly I'm very critical of BHVR in many ways/aspects but I find a lot of people's behaviour (no pun intended) and responses to this whole situation really unfair.

Mainly with content creators acting like by making videos they can strong arm a response by spreading """awareness""" of an exploit. Yeah, awareness - right. Then when the developers respond and sort the issue out, they get to pat themselves on the back like they did something, shut up honestly.

You make videos on the game you're not the people who actually keep the game running, people talk about entitlement, this is ACTUAL entitlement.

Game breaking bugs suck, nobody will dispute that but making videos essentially advertising it under the guise of """awareness""" just doesn't sit right with me. Never will

Personally I'd like to give credit where it's due, if not for the addition of the killswitch this bug would've stuck around for at least another week given how BHVR handles hotfixes. Whoever had the idea for that, well done and many thanks.

The only kind of emergency that warrants this is something requiring an intervention on the servers.

But they are hosted by Amazon so I'm guessing their contract includes this kind of service as it's pretty standard.
