Gameplay overhaul idea

This intends to make the game more horror like without ruining it completely

Map sizes increased by roughly 1/3 of their original size (might be different for some maps like doctors) with same number of gens hooks and totems etc. spread over that distance. (eliminates 3gen situations hopefully and makes putting a gap between the final generators even better) Killers like trapper would have slightly more traps around to make up for it maybe not. map size is more for survivors than the killer and rewards early game skill.

Time to do gens increased by roughly 1/5 of their original time to encourage them to be worked on together to achieve optimal progress but also not to make running a gen rush build feel necessary for every trial.

Now when a survivor is hooked you will not be notified of their location via aura. and it takes significantly longer for them to progress through the stages of sacrifice. (perks like kindred will still let you see the killers aura when they are near the survivor to make things easier for aspiring altruists) This also encourages survivors to generally be rewarded for staying in reach of others and punishing sneaky types who get caught alone. (increased map size decreases chances of getting caught right away and provides more places to hide when there is no one to help) Rewards early game skill and does more to nullify the need to camp survivors when paired with gen rush nerf.

Finally a voice chat will be added to the game to make up for the losses solo players might experience and to encourage a better and not toxic swf. one added to the lobby for survivors only so they can communicate before the match about strategies or just to say hey i guess. And then there will be a proximity in-game (also survivor only)

This is just an idea obviously there are tons of perks that could be detrimental to gameplay or killers who could become way less desirable or maybe youre a survivor main who likes the game the way it is. this is just something i thought about and would like to share with like minded peoples hope i didnt forget anything important. thanks for reading im a dropout didnt pay attention in grammar my bad for that. : 3

  • Bigger map sizes are never a good idea, the biggest map in this games history was the very first itteration of Pale Rose. And when I mean that map was huge, IT. WAS. HUGE.

And the problem with having giant maps is there is gonna be a lot of down time where nothing is happening for any one or the majority of players in the lobby since not only is it harder to find people since there are more possible places to hide, but most of the time people are gonna be traversing the map since everything is gonna be more spread out

Increased gen times is an automatic no, its boring as hell to sit on a gen for 80 seconds and adding 16 seconds by default just makes the problem worst and wouldnt really map a difference if the map is bigger.

As for your hook idea.. . Staying on the hook as a Survivor aint fun, and staying even LONGER on the hook would be even worst. It would just add to the problem of increasing the gap between solo q and swf

VC seems like a good idea on paper, but then you have to keep in mind that not every one speaks English. People in EU are connected to many different countries that all speak different languages. What Id rather see is Survivors having a chat wheel and what ever they say pops up in one of the corners on top. To add more immersion into the game the Survivors could speak in their native language and other Survivors could hear that nearby.

Overall, the main reason why this wouldnt work is because of the down time between both sides, the fun part of this game is the interaction with the otherside, and this just takes that away for the most part.

  • look all im saying is that you havent tried it so you really dont know if it would make the game worse or better

I haven't tried it, but having 4.6k hours in the game gives me a pretty good idea of whats good for the game and what isn't

Also if you want some one to get notified that you replied to them, press the "Quote" button, should be in the middle of "Flag" and "Vote Up"

  • Don't need to have played with those ideas to know they wouldn't work. They're making maps smaller when reworking them because, as Shroompy said, huge maps are boring. Too many dead zones, too many looping spots to waste time, and it takes ages to look everywhere to find a survivor, a generator, a totem, a chest, etc..

Voice chat would only be a good idea if the community wasn't toxic as f.... but it is, so much like most other games with in-game voice chat, you'd get 10 year olds insulting your mom and your sexual preferences. I rather play without. Again, as Shroompy said, a chat wheel would work great. "Come here" "Killer is over there" "I'm going for the hook", lots of small little phrases that could help close the gap between solo and SWFs.

  • the slight map size increase would only include a small amount of maps like the nurses map or clowns

having the same amount of gens spread out over that distance not only eliminates three gen situations for killer but maybe makes doing generators take longer in a way

totems and chests and stuff like that is hardly ever a necessity and they can be found using perks or maps anyway sure it makes killers with hexes stronger and would nerf boon totems slightly. by this i mean survivors totems are always easier to find because they have to be near it to get the benefits with an increased map size it wont seem as if the range of boons spans an op portion of the map like say if you wanted to cover the space in between two generators with shadow step

Finding survivors is easy just patrol gens.. the less gens there are the easier survivors are to find.. the size increase of the map makes it harder for both survivors and killers as they would both now have to go more distance to reach things.. eliminating the part of being hooked where it broadcasts your location to the other survivors would greatly incentivise that survivors work together in an area as apposed to being spread out across the map. so starting alone could be bad if you arent careful... as doing generators is important and maybe no one has the perks required to run straight to your position. staying on the hook longer from first to second stage and maybe giving more escape attempts makes getting caught off guard in early game less terrible and nullifies the idea that this overhaul is "camp city" .... fighting in pairs would probably be the new Comp meta....

Voice chat would obviously need to be optional its more so intended to be a nerf to swf by making communication limited to proximity this doesnt stop you and your friends from making a party outside of the game to communicate but at least you can say the game tries

  • new players to the game would hopefully learn the values of teamwork but as always there will be kite lords to help gens fly
