We need bigger punishments and disincentives for people leaving: A rant.
Imagine logging into DBD, deciding "I'm gonna play some killer"
To have every game where you're not being completely bullied resulting in up to 3 people a game disconnecting on purpose because you do a good job, you mind game them and win, you land a good hatchet, a good blight tech, a good nurse blink and so on.
Instantly you realise that unless survivors are bullying you, you're wasting your time playing killer because all they need to do is disconnect, wait a few minutes and queue again. Any hard work you put into learning the game, killers or map knowledge to ambush a survivor is wasted because they leave, robbing you of the kill credit at the end of the match and therefore screwing you over for one last time.
It's becoming increasingly obvious to me, that we need to build a 'DBD 2' from the ground up and hardcode some of this stuff from the get-go instead of patching our way to oblivion in a 6-year-old game that clearly they have more ideas about what to implement then what is actually feasible to do in engine.
This is my rant 😪

Ever since I've stopped caring about the fun of the survivors and started to camp/tunnel more or play anti-loop killers like Artist, the amount of DC's I get have gone up drastically.
Guess survivors want easy games?
While i agree with you mostly i ask you this what can they do to help stop the dcs and not punish players thats internet may go out? Sure they can implement some things but only so much data gets sent and not everyone leaves a match by clicking on leave game. They could increase the serverside timeout but that would just make que times longer for others. Its honestly not a easy problem to subdue and i hope that one day they do find a solution but it take a lot of brainstorming and research into other games methods first. Ive said before they could let a bot take over for the dc or another player in queue for their first few games a day but i dunno how many players would want to join a game already in a loosing scenario unless they were given something for the trouble
Starting in a week interval
First disconnect. Ok
second disconnect. Fine
3rd?? 250 shards
4th?? 500 shards
5th?? 1000 shards.
6th?? You get the picture.
I think most people DC because they found the game unfair in some way. Like you didn't actually get a good hatchet hit, the hitbox is just really big, and blight's hitbox is way bigger than his actual weapon so it feels like you got robbed.
Yeah, it's not like the game has been losing players for the last 3 months because of all the misimplemented "competitive" aspects, including the DC penalty. I myself haven't played the game for a few weeks partly because of the Escape Based Matchmaking, partly because I can't leave after getting hit from a 5-meter distance, while vaulting, by a 3-meter wide hatchet hitbox, etc etc. People leave because the game is miserably broken sometimes, because they die without their fault, if you punish for DC - people will just let go on hook, and eventually get tired of it and stop playing, as I did. Less soloQ survivors for you to farm, dear killer main, think of it this way.
I think it would help if you got the full compensation and let a DC count as a sacrifice. Right now, if a survivor feels like DCing just to spite you, they will succeed and rob you of blood points and prevent you completing several tome challenges.
