Is there any chance for Dead by Daylight to upgrade their game engine?

We all know this will solve a lot of problems,if not all,but I know its easier said than done.

Everyone says Dead by Daylight has a spaghetti code,my real question is,is it worth changing Dead by Daylight engine in the first place?

  • I have no knowledge about engine. How it would save a lot of issues? Because we don't all know, please, explain to me. I like to learn new things.

  • Just changing the engine doesnt fix the game code issues it may have sure it might look prettier but it can also cause more issues than it would fix

Yeah that's what I was thinking,if you change the engine the code will be easier to fix.

You mean like upgrading the engine version or switching to a different engine entirely?

  • this game isnt big enough to warrant an engine upgrade to be honest ... They really dont have a big enough map and enough people per session to apply a need for engine upgrade.

  • It's already on Unreal Engine 4, which is already the most current version of the engine. Until Unreal Engine 5 becomes commercially available, this is as good as its going to get.

Anyway, its unrealistic to expect any live service game developer to change engine. It would just cause a myriad of problems.

  • They are using the best engine (to my understanding) they need to recode the game

Blueprints isn't the best way to code

your kidding oMG this hurts my souls .... there ue4.0 and then all the way up to 4.25 and then Ue5 ... each new engine upgrade its code is fundamentally different. enough to warrant a rewrite
