Survivor totems are a little bit broken

Just had a game. 4 people sfw, 3 healing totems. Ok.

My ruin gone in first 1-2 minutes. - 1 perk. Ok

But because of healing totems I cant use my second Hex Pentemento. Surviors don't need to break totems. No dull or hexed.

So at the conclusion:

I play versus 4 SFW which have in total 16 perks. While I have only 2 because ruin is gone and pentemento is useless due to healing totems exist

**Clap clap clap**

This totems can be balanced, but now they ned some nerfes. At least make it impossible to use survivor totem on hexed. Only break.

Or make there only 1 usage per match, like hex ones

(Sory if I had mistakes in my text - I am Ukrainian)

  • Really only CoH is broken tbh, the others effects are strong enough for them to be as popular and annoying.

  • If boons were unusable on hexes then you could bring a full hex build to make them completely useless. Plus it already takes longer to bless a hex especially if you bring thrill of the hunt

There are more than 4 totems on map. So full hex build will unlikely counter them at all.

+ Even if all survivors take for example 1 totem perk vs full hex and they will be countered by Hex, as you said, they will have in total 12 perks, while can break hex totems and leave killer perkless

Boons need some kind of downside.

Remember, Hex perks are supposed to be high risk, high reward perks. Now if those hex perks, that are gone forever after cleansing them, are considered high reward, then what are boons?

Oh I agree. I’ve said multiple times in the past that there should be a global 45-60 second cooldown on boons once one is snuffed to give the killer some breathing room.

But I don’t want to see shadowstep and exponential destroyed because COH is too strong

People only consider COH strong, because they haven´t realized how powerful Shadowstep is on indoor maps. Its just one steamer compilation away from becoming meta.

Tbf is that a problem with shadowstep or indoor maps? You could say the same thing about IW/lucky break for example.

Though boons going between floors is also stupid (looking at you RPD library)

  • List I think Boon should be changed:

    • Blessing time reduced to 10sec.
    • Each Boon has a difference range. ShadowStep & Peno range increased to 32m, Coh reduced to 8m
    • Survivor can hear a Boon is blessed, but Killer can not.
    • Boon emits sound as low as Hex.
    • Once snuffed, the perks gone permanently
    • The more Boon perks affection when survivors are in range, the more Blue effect on their screen, make them harder to see.

This will make Killer hard to find Boon, but in return, the perk is gone if snuffed. So it would be equal to Hex, high risk, high reward.

I think a cooldown would be a good idea. Shadow and Exponential are so rarely used that I don't even know if a cooldown would destroy them...

  • Boon mechanics are broken.

    Killer perks per trial: 4

    Survivor perks per trial: 16

Killer hex: One time use, when broken it's gone for ever

Survivor boon: Infinite amount of uses, 1 perk slot benefits the whole team

If this doesn't scream survivor sided game, I don't know what will.

There's 5 totems at least on each map and trill is only 10% decrease to cleansing and blessing

What about if there's more than one boon you can get almost full map coverage due to the size of the AOE

I’m pretty sure the blessing speed stacks with the extra hex speed though making blessing hexes near impossible

I can agree especially after reading that if you have than and thrill it could be up to 80% if it stacks, however, the time is the same for cleansing and blessing dull totems which can only be regressed by 30% if you use both and they stack.

The main problem, however, doesn't matter since killer perks are gone either way and there is no option to get rid of boons permanently and the distance of said boons can be full map sized if there is more than one boon active.

Indoor maps should be taken into consideration regarding balancing.

A survivor with Iron Will and Shadowstep is on a indoor map to killers what Spirit was to survivors. How can one be considered OP and the other one not?

Boon radius is only an issue on multi level maps like RPD tbh

And Killers are not using Thrill alot now because the main reason Killers used it was FOR THE NOTIFICATION not the slowdown. Survivors saying well Thrill of the Hunt increases blessing time is moot because unless the Kill happens to walk up on them they will be safe to bless the totem because they won't have any idea it's going on.

That's why Boons should have a 15m range not what they have now. Booms should give a safe zone not a safe area the size of a football field.

  • Just the fact that survivors can bless a totem over and over makes it so broken...

A survivor with Iron Will and Shadowstep is on a indoor map to killers what Spirit was to survivors. How can one be considered OP and the other one not?

Because shadowstep can be destroyed. Again if you gave it a global cooldown that would give the killer plenty of room to get things done in between boon uses. Anyway if we are balancing while taking indoor maps into account surely pigs boxes need a nerf? They can lead to almost guaranteed death if the survivor gets unlucky on a map like midwich or RPD

  • Hex totems are high risk high reward. New Ruin absolutely carries, especially against solo survivors, and on an indoor map? Good luck finding that totem, enjoy your free win. Survivors waste time healing and setting up the totems, so it's a give and take. If they're going all that, they aren't doing gens. I personally hate the boon totems as a survivor, it's hard enough to get a game where my teammates are all willing to play and aren't crouch walking along the edge, wetting their pants.

  • We do need to realize that Hexes and Boons are different

Yes I do agree that COH is strong and getting rid of the stacking would help decease the strength a bit

And Yes I also agree that Hex: Pentimento needed to be in the game before Boons came out

Also adding in a Cooldown onto Boons would help as well

Only if the teammates continue to pump gens while the trap is placed.

  • I just figured out one thing.

There are 20 perks in trial.

    4 killer's perks and 16 survivors. 4 to 16.

Hex perks have big influence on game, but also have risk to be destroyed and there will be 3 to 16.

Pentemento is situational perk, which needs broken totem. If there is a boon totem this perk is useless because nobody will break any. Also 3 to 16.

If killer runs both pentemento and, for example, ruin, it xab be potentially 2 to 16.

Boon are nearly as useful as hex, but they don't have risk of being lost in game, as hex. And it makes them unbalanced w little.

To balance them I propose change one thing:

Each survivor can plaсе one boon totem per trial. If killer finds it - be will just shut it or destroy totem.

    Now for the numbers:

(If killer runs only non hex perks he have 4 of them.)

With the worst case, where survivors will run 4 boon perks each, there is potentially 4 to 0 perks. It's nearly impossible, because survivors wil rather pick Dead Hard, DS, Flashbang ect.

More common if there is 1-2 boons picked by 1-4 survivors.

And in this cases we can have perks from 4 to 15 (1 boon in entire team) to 4 to 8 (2 perks each survivor)

As we can see most common situations in game will leave survivors in team perk advantage. Boons still be useful and rewarding for survivors, but they will have risk factor of losing perk. However they will still be more safe to use then hex perks, because hex spawns randomly and can be destroyed in first minute of the game. While boon is must to be placed by survivor, which can choose for it the most safe place

  • Something like that...

  • honestly they just broke the game with CoH. It's so tiresome. You know the game is gonna be cancer when you hear the blessing sound at the start of a round. multi pressure is impossible now. they will tank hits for each other and run in their safe zone to insta heal. health states mean nothing now.
