Boon: Eye of Odin

Boon: Eye of Odin

The god of your ancestors watches over you through all realms of creation assisting you on your path to greatness and beyond darkness. Blessing a totem with the Eye of Odin, shows an indicator on the player UI are that your soul is protected. When you are hooked, the sacrifice timer is doubled and a murder of crows directs the killer to the boon's location and any startled crow shows the location of survivors. The sacrifice timer is also stopped when the killer is in range of the hook. All effects of the totem are stopped once the totem is cleansed by the killer. A survivor that blesses a totem with Boon: Eye of Odin, while another player on the hook protects the hooked survivor and grants the same effect to is it would if you had blessed your own totem.

Also, if a survivor is downed while the protected survivor is hooked, the totem is also cleansed.

In other words, this is designed to stop facecamping and pull killers away from hooks. We all know there's nothing worse in this game than getting hard camped. It's boring game play and this will make it more interesting.

I was thinking of a Viking heritage survivor when thinking about this.

  • Thought I would update this boon idea with a buff. On top of halting the hook progress if the killer is near the hook, when the booner is on the hook and the boon is still active, survivors on generators receive a generator speed bonus. This is a strong way to force killers away from facecamping.

Or, instead of a speed buff, anyone that has a boon totem of any kind and has a boon totem active is protected by your boon.

  • This is extremely and completely busted. Increasing hook stage timer/pausing hook timer/etc are ideas BHVR has literally tested and scrapped for that exact reason. Punishing camping isn't how you reduce camping. Rewarding not camping is how you reduce camping from those that use it as a strategy. People that don't care about it being a strategy or not will do it regardless even if you make every single possible nerf to it.

People do it mainly because it's easy to do, poses very little risk and gives huge benefit. Make it high risk and people will reduce it as "questionable" tactics.

You will still have some people camping, but only in rare ocasions when it's beneficial or if the killer is dedicated to throw the game just to camp - and that is ok. Just don't support easy/low risk/unengaging tactics.

Make it hard, or high risk, or low benefit. I don't care which option you choose, but pick at least one (or combo from them).

PTB reassurence was a good step, but the nerf it got makes it harder on soloQ. But maybe it will still be enough. I don't know yet
