Anti-Hatch Mechanic

This mechanic and change is inspired by the extremely cheesy and all-too-effective way to just disconnect last second and let the last person get the Hatch. In order to prevent this, but to ensure that there's still a chance of getting Hatch even if a person disconnects, the following measures are taken.

  • When a Survivor disconnects and there are at least two other Survivors left in the game, the Hatch will open up upon there being one last Survivor in the Trial, instantly.
  • When a Survivor disconnects and there is one other Survivor left in the game, the Hatch will not open. Instead, a chest containing a Dull Key spawns in furthest from the Hatch and is revealed to the Survivor. This will be the only way to get out upon a player Disconnecting to give that Survivor the Hatch, in order to give the Killer a fair chance at getting that deserved kill upon you.

This change is basically aimed at making it so that one of the two last Survivors in the game, should they disconnect, will make it significantly tougher for the other Survivor to escape, rather than making it trivial. Now the Survivor in question has to work in order to get their escape since their teammate decided to be a petty person and leave the match.

In addition to this change, there's a new Report System feature I'd like to introduce in concept known as Disconnecting for Hatch. This system feature is a specific feature that does not require you to comment, but instead, you can simply click it, report it on the Survivor that disconnected, and you'll be golden. This report feature, however, is only available to players who have disconnected from the Trial, thus it cannot be applied to those who escape or die.

What do you guys think? Do these ideas sound good to improve the game's overall health?

  • Just be aware of the hatches location I hardly have this problem after a bit of practice. Just down both the survivor's and hook them back to back. It works a lot for me.
