Probably cause renewing the licence wouldnt be currently profitable, especially if, hypothetically, the owners of ST raised the price
With the 4th season being delayed the chaoter may habe not sold well lately (yet this i cannot confirm) and so, may not be profitable to reniew right now, especially when our beloved demogorgon had his sweet spot mostly in S1 (and so since demo is the killer, it didnt bring people to purchase him)
Hi-Rez as a company is probably more profitable, Smite as a game has a better reputation and actually functions, Netflix likes Smite more than DBD, we don't know.
