My Final Trickster Buff Thread

You know, I've had some good ideas, some bad ideas, all in the goal to make The Trickster someone that would appeal to people. Unfortunately with the way that the game is going now, Trickster may never get his time in the spotlight like he should have gotten before.

So with this thread, I'm on a mission. My mission here is to make a series of Trickster buffs that go above and beyond what I've done previously. I want to make The Trickster feel so appealing to the audience that this thread gets enough upvotes to truly warrant the developers' attention.

If I do that, then hopefully we can see this flamboyant narcissist get his due.

Without further ado, I introduce to you, "Dead by Rebalance: The Trickster".

The Trickster

Attributes

  • Buff: Movement speed is increased to 4.6m/s (from 4.4m/s)

Power: Showstopper

  • Quality of Life: The Trickster no longer cancels the throwing state of Showstopper if the player lets go of the Power Button. Instead, to exit throw state, the player must press the Power Button again (as indicated with a prompt on the bottom screen).
  • Buff: Time to enter the throwing state is reduced to 0.25 seconds (from 0.35 seconds)
  • Buff: Time to exit the throwing state is reduced to 1 second (from 1.25 seconds)
  • Buff: Showstopper charge time is reduced to 0.25 seconds (from 0.35 seconds)
  • Buff: Initial movement speed at 0 blades is increased to 4.2m/s (from 3.86m/s)
    • Nerf: Movement speed now decays faster per knife thrown, with maximum speed decay reached at 20 Blades (from 30 blades)
  • Buff: The amount of Lacerations required to injure a Survivor is reduced to 7 (from 8).
  • Buff: The recoil angle variation when throwing is reduced to 3 degrees (from 5 degrees).
  • Buff: The effects of the Edge of Revival Album are now applied to Showstopper's base kit.

Main Event

  • Buff: Main Event no longer decays when fully charged.
  • Nerf: Main Event now requires 40 charges to fully charge (from 20)
    • Note: Main Event still has the original 3.86m/s movement speed it originally had.

Add-Ons

  • Change: The Edge of Revival Album no longer grants the ability to deal splash damage. Instead, this add-on increases the range of the splash by +0.5m and the damage of the splash by +25%.
  • Change: The Death Throes Compilation description is changed.
    • "Minimum Laceration caused by Blades is reduced to 50%."
    • "Maximum Laceration caused by Blades is increased to 200%."
    • "To achieve maximum Laceration, The Trickster must chain consecutive hits of each Blade. Missing a Blade will reset the Laceration effect."
  • Buff: Diamond Cufflink's effects now linger until the Survivor's Laceration meter starts to decay.
  • Buff: On Target Single, Fizz-Spin Soda and Trick Blades now increase the projectile speed of Throwing Knives by 25%, 35% and 50%, respectively.

These changes altogether would make The Trickster truly feel like he's an actual character in this game and not a joke. This would move him from being considered typically the worst Killer in the game to someone who is more well-balanced and well-defined, more liked by the community as a whole.

Gone would be the days of a 110% Killer who couldn't catch up to Survivors and use his Power properly. Gone are the days of a Killer who was punished mostly for using his Power. And gone are the days of a poorly balanced man.

This is what I believe The Trickster should be. A Killer whose Power is reliable, and whose Power is fun to play with and against.

Comments

  • Those changes will make Survivors hate playing against him even more than Deathslinger. Possibly more than Spirit too.

At no point should Trickster be able to move faster while throwing knives than Survivors. If Trickster is faster while throwing what exactly is a Survivor supposed to do when Trickster "back revvs" them with knives? Especially with Main Event which doesn't have the stacking slowdown on it.

There are a few buffs in here that would be welcome. Main Event not decaying, entering and leaving throw state, recoil, Diamond Cufflink's buff. rewording Death Throes Compilation. Those buffs should all be fine and be welcome changes to Trickster that won't break him. But overall... there's just way too many, too powerful buffs here.

I will give you one thing though. If your changes did go through, he wouldn't lose basically all the reasons that I personally play him, so props for that. I've seen too many proposed Trickster reworks that would butcher him from my point of view.

    I've added two additional things:

    • Showstopper's movement speed reaches its slowest speed faster (at 20 blades instead of 30). This means that by 10 blades, Trickster will be well under 4 meters per second, allowing escape.
    • Main Event's movement speed remains unchanged from its original 3.86m/s speed to allow some counterplay against it.
