SpaceCoconut's idea on leveling perks through usage has some potential for cool quests.

Everyone and their mother has had the same thought when it comes to reducing the grind for this game: get rid of perk tiers.

There's a very real argument to be made for that; there's just far too many perks to require players to grind through bloodwebs three times for each perk (even with BBQ and technically getting 2 perk levels per web later on), especially if you want to max multiple characters like a killer main would.

Space Coconut proposed an alternative to this, and while I think his specific implementation of the system is flawed (as he admits himself), the idea is there.

Using a perk to level it up has a vibe of some kind of Quest, which sounds like something that could be really ######### interesting to use.

Here's a way to implement it that I feel would be a bit better than the way it's specifically implemented in the video.

  • Perks can be unlocked and levelled by finding them in the Blood Web as they can right now.
  • Perks can additionally be unlocked and levelled by completing a Discovery quests in their games.
    • Quests are unique to the perk, with the requirement related to the function of the perk.
    • Quests do not require you to run the perk, but the perk will make the quest much easier.
    • Quests must be done in a single trial.

Rather than just tremendously reducing the grind, this makes the grind shorter and more interesting, which I think is a great way to handle it.

For example...

To level Dead Hard, dodge three attacks.

To level Blast Mine, blind the killer after any kick action three times.

To level Any Means Necessary, use the same pallet in two separate chases.

To level Tinkerer, interrupt survivors on a generator when it's almost completed three times.

To level Forced Penance, down a survivor within 80 seconds of them taking a protection hit.

To level Blood Favor, damage and then down a survivor without them dropping a pallet between.

To level Starstruck, down a survivor within 30 seconds of a hook three times.

This is a lot of effort, though, and it could be handled as simply as "Hey, you ran I'm All Ears on Huntress seven times. Have a perk level on the house".
