How Many BP Does it Take to P3 All Perks on a Survivor Starting From Level 1? (1.3K word analysis)

Let's calculate how many bloodpoints it would take to prestige a survivor 3 times and get all perks on said survivor. First we need to go over some assumptions.

Assumptions:

  • You do not spend any additional bloodpoints after reaching level 50 on P0, P1, or P2
  • When leveling P3 to level 50, you ensure you always get as many perks as possible (ex: if there are 3 perks available, you always get 2 of them)
  • You have all survivor teachables available to find in the bloodweb
  • It takes about 1.5 million bloodpoints to go from level 1 to level 50 and all bloodpoint-expense increases due to the increased item rarity are negligible.
  • It takes about 50,000 bloodpoints to level up once beyond P3 Level 50.
  • You start with the 3 level 1 teachables of the survivor by default
  • When approaching the final few perks as P3, you ensure that you will always select perks based on lesser perk tiers in order to ensure you can get 2 perks per level
  • There are 95 total survivor perks available currently.
  • Only a max of 1 perk is attained per level from levels 1 to 40.
  • 2 perks are attained per level from 41 and above.

Calculations:

Leveling up from P0 level 1 to P1 level 1 (or P0 level 50) takes 1.5 million bloodpoints. Applying this same value for P1 level 1 --> P2 level 1 and P2 level 50 --> P3 level 50, we get 6 million bloodpoints to reach P3.

To level up from P3 Level 50 and beyond to get all perks we have to calculate how many level ups are needed. There are 95 total survivor perks. Translating to perk tiers, we multiply by 3 and get 285 total level ups overall. We now subtract 3 from 285 because survivors have by default their 3 teachable perks at level 1. Now we have to calculate the number of perk tiers accumulated over leveling up from P3 level 1 to P3 level 50. Given that levels 1 to 40 give only one perk, a survivor will have 40 perks tiers (excluding the default 3) by level 41. Going onwards, assuming that the survivor optimally obtains 2 perks until level 50, the survivor will gain 9 levels times 2 perks equaling 18 more perk tiers and a total of 61 perk tiers at reaching level 50 (3+40+18=61). Now we subtract 61 from the total number of perk tiers (285) which results in 224 perk tiers to obtain.

Given that we need 50,000 bloodpoints to level up once after P3 level 50, there are 224 perk tiers to obtain, and you get 2 perk tiers per level up, we can approximate the cost to get 222 perk tiers. We cannot apply this to all 224 perk tiers because we will reach a point where we can only get 1 perk tier per level up. Assuming you optimally distribute perk tiers, your last 2 perk tiers will require 2 separate level ups instead of 1 level up. (This could require 6 whole separate level ups if perk tiers are obtained unoptimally.) We divide 222 by 2 to get the number of level ups to get all but the last 2 perks and then add 2. We get 113 level ups at P3 level 50 (222/2 + 2).

To convert the number of level ups at P3 level 50, we simply multiple the number of level ups (113) by 50,000 to get 5.65 million. Now we add this number to the initial 6 million bloodpoints it takes to reach to P3 level 50 and we have a total of 11.65 total bloodpoints to prestige 3 times and get all maxed 95 perks on a survivor. If you apply this to all 27 survivors, that's 314.55 million bloodpoints to farm to P3 - All perks on all survivors.

Conclusion:

11.65 million bloodpoints to get P3 all perks on a single character is an absurd amount. Considering this equates to 314.55 million bloodpoints for all 27 survivors, this is an extremely long grind.

Possible Solutions:

  • Removing Perk Tiers: This is a good idea, but drastically reduces the bloodpoint grind by a significant amount. Hypothetically, this would mean that a survivor would need to level up 92 times (95 minus default 3 teachables) to get all perks. Considering now that the 61 perk tiers gained from going from level 1 to level 50 is now 61 perks, we only have 34 perks to obtain at Level 50. This translates to a minimum 18 additional level ups at Level 50 (32/2 + 2). Overall, assuming the additional bloodpoints from every tier 1 perk (4,000 BP) becoming tier 3 (6,000 BP) is negligible, then it takes a total of 6.9 million to go from P0 level 1 to P3 All perks. This is 59% of the original total cost with most of the bloodpoint costs being going from P0 to P3. However, this method has a few other consequences. It significantly reduces the cost of getting all perks as a P0 which deincentivizes players to prestige in the first place. Whether this is a positive or negative is it up to personal preference, but considering players currently require approximately 63% additional BP to P3 and get all perks instead of simply not prestiging while getting all perks, this change would require 87.5% additional BP to P3 with all perks instead of just P0 all perks. Therefore, less people are likely to P3 as it becomes relatively more expensive compared to simply not prestiging and getting all perks. Furthermore, this would also change the default 7.15 million to P0 all perks to merely 2.4 million which is only a third of the standard P0 all perks. This is something that probably would not be in the interest of the developers since it's way too significant of a change. In addition, this change would remove the small shorter grind of getting the stronger version of a perk which may negatively influence beginners to grind for BP.
  • Prestiging Keeps Your Current Perks: The biggest problem with this is that this makes the loss of progress when prestiging almost meaningless. Most offerings and addons are useless, so the loss of progress is extremely reduced. As for BP, the accumulation of perk tiers to P3 Level 50 would work like this: 61 + (61-3) + 58 + 58 = 235. The 3 is subtracted from every prestige because you would already own the 3 teachables for that survivor. From this, you only need to level up 26 times ((50-2)/2 + 2). This results in a total BP requirement of 7.3 million which is 63% of the current 11.65 million BP. Furthermore, this is only 0.15 million bloodpoints more expensive than if you did not prestige and got all perks which is makes the choice of prestiging or not a lot more in favor of prestiging. Considering how much this would highly incentivize players to prestige with minimal consequence, this probably won't be an idea that the developers would consider doing.

My Final Solution:

Prestiging from from P1 to P2 or P2 to P3 will no longer reset perks, but rather keep them. Items, addons, and offerings remain unchanged. By having the prestiging while already prestiged maintain the perks owned, the total BP to go from P0 Level 1 to P3 All Perks will be 8.75 million. This is still a net decrease in total BP spent compared to the current 11.65 million, but not as drastic as prestiging always keeping current perks. This idea maintains the cost requirement of prestiging with an approximate 22.38% increase from 7.15 million to get all perks without prestiging while also reducing the overall P3 BP grind by about 25%. This would also make prestiging more appealing despite it still requiring 1.6 million more BP to get P3 with all perks.

  • Prestiging on survivors is pretty much purely cosmetic though, so I really don't care about it. And on killers it's -slightly- better, but not 'good' by any stretch.

What I -do- care about is that perk pools are becoming so expansive that it can take well over 50 bloodwebs before some of them spawn. There's a few perks that are just universally valuable (BBQ, Fixated) that become a pain to hunt down.

So I'll suggest it again and keep suggesting it: Prestiging a character should unlock that character's perks permanently on all current and future characters.

This'll also help futureproof the game, since this issue will get worse and worse over time.
