Nemesis' whip when he infects survivors doesn't interrupt their actions?

Was just unlocking an exit gate against Nemesis when he whipped me, which infected me and it didn't interrupt my action. Why? Would that really be too strong? Is it only on the infection hit or any tentacle hit?

    So apparently it's close enough to an attack to warrant a speed boost on hit but not close enough to interrupt actions. 🤔

    Counterplay for thee but not for me. i have said it before but i will again. His power was designed and then they sat down with survivor mains and asked them what "CouNTeRPlaY" he should have.

    It’s why I’ve been running save the best on him. He’s terrible in an unhook situation and is basically just M1 at that point if the savior used a vaccine before going for the unhook.
