How to deal with hag as a solo queue player | With TL;DR at the bottom

Hag + solo queueing players = Sadness:

Hag is an absolute nightmare for solo queue players, it feels impossible to win against a good one too. However I have a few little tips to help you out.

Tip: This little tip one is more of a universal one, but it is to know which killer you are playing against asap. If it is a Trapper or a Hag, you need to know or else you will let them set up their traps. These killers with their traps set up in solo queue is incredibly hard to deal with.

What to do:

When you get close to the Hag, keep your eye on her. This can be difficult or somewhat easy depending on the map. But you need to disarm her traps constantly and do your best not to get hit while doing so. Then pretty much the whole match, just follow her and harass her.

For reference, the Hag's trap radius to trigger it is 3 meters. What you want to do if the Hag is elsewhere is run to the very edge of this radius, then quickly pull a 180. If she teleports, she will have to reset the trap or chase you but if she is a little too slow then you will not get hit, this is good. However, if the Hag is quick to teleport, you can still deal with her. Do not do this if the Hag is quick though because she will easily hit you.

If she does hit you when disarming traps and you have a medkit, it will be ok. If you are doing well, then you can easily have her chase you and if she resets her traps then you can heal up and trigger them again. Perks like bond or empathy can help you find your teammates to patch you up as well.

When the Hag is good and very quick to teleport, you need to time your disarms perfectly. A very good and safe way of doing this, one strategy that I never see people do, is trigger the trap immediately after she hits someone and run, all you have to do is watch the UI indicator to see this. This is the main thing I want to let you know about. This can also work if you see that she is setting another trap elsewhere, although this is a little uncommon, but it still works just as well.

You can also disarm her traps when she picks someone else up, this is why you need to memorize or at least watch her place her traps. This way you should be able to constantly keep the number of traps she has very low or even better, make it to where she has no traps.

With flashlights, you can do this much more efficiently and safely. Keep in mind that she is notified of this though.

TL;DR:

Follow the Hag as much as possible. If she hits another survivor, immediately trigger a trap. Constantly harass her by doing this all game and keep following her, do not let her out of your sight. Medkits and flashlights will help.

Hope this helps all you solo players out there.

  • It's a nice idea, but it reminds me as if someone is following around the killer all game looking for that flashlight save..

..which means they aren't doing gens.

Can't always rely on teammates doing them, especially if you're solo-queue. Not to mention, it also sounds like a good way to get yourself camped in the basement.

  • Yup. Perfect way to counter her.

  • As a Hag game I agree that this is the best way to counter her. As a survivor I constantly harass her webs, especially when she picks a survivor. Since her web will probably be built around a 3gen, harassing the web is infinitely more important than doing a gen outside of her 3gen

True, but if you don't then people will die quicker. It is just the sad reality of solo queue unfortunately, this will still help your team very much. I would say to go for it.
