Revert undying nerf

With Counterforce in the game now, there is no reason for old undying not to exist.

  • With this post, you are hard tunneling on balancing the game in killer vs perfectly efficient 4 man SFW, where one of survivors is totem guy, going with counterforce.

Now think about soloQ and just simply not tryhard SFW, which probably makes up for most of the games. Old undying was too oppressive with ruin, while being useless with devour. So I believe undying should stay as it is.

The options to find and learn totem locations has never been easier. Due to the fixed nature of totem spawns, a survivor really just has to run small game for a few dozen hours and then they'll know where all totems spawns are for the rest of the hundreds of hours they'll play the game. Counterforce is an enormously powerful perk, and I would not be surprised if survivors run it simply because they have nothing else better, or because they just like Jill. I completely disagree with downplaying how much SoloQ survivors would be willing to run it.

However, as of now, I see absolutely no reason to run any hex perks at all. The class of perks are supposed to be high risk, high reward, however it is not balanced that way. Currently it is high risk, virtually no reward. Most hex perks are completely worthless to begin with, so pitiably laughable in power that its stunning wondering why they are attached to a hex at all.

I can only hope some massive hex buff comes out of this because otherwise 9 killer perks are dead in the water.

Can you explain to me then, why in at least 7 out of 10 games as a survivor i see ruin? Often paired with undying, sometimes with devour? If it's so bad, why is everyone running it?

Let's gather data from PTB, let's see how will counterforce affect hexes, after all that's what PTB is for. Then we will draw conclusions.

Remember that Counterforce is high risk high reward kind of perk aswell. If killer has no hexes, you are just playing without one perk.

  • Lets bring back original DS (When it first came out) should be brought back because Putrid Oaks are in the game

Thats easy, because there is no gen defense perk combo better than ruin/undying or ruin/pop. Which I assume will naturally switch to pop/corrupt or pop/eruption going forward after this chapter release.

Also, even if there are no hex perks its still hyper effective in maintaining 100% uptime of inner strength, the fastest healing perk in the game. If you pair this with MoM/Inner Strength suddenly taking 2 MoM hits EVERY GAME isn't so wild of an idea. How is that not crazy?

  • Hell no. That was cancer with Ruin.

    Spurious correlation.

  • Just revert the dull totem aura part. That one is dumb. And remove the survivor notification while you're at it

  • I've been looking for a legitimate reason to bring back old Undying, and I think Counterforce is it. Hex builds from now on will basically be dead, or will be used only for wasting survivors time by making them cleanse the totems. Either revert Undying or nerf Counterforce.
