Ideas on how to further change Huntress's Ultra Rare add-ons

Huntress got a brand new set of add-ons this patch, most of them are nice, except the Ultra Rare add-ons.

Soldier's Puttee

For an Ultra Rare add-on moving 5% faster when out of hatchets is pretty bad, my suggestion is to give this effect to a Common add-on like Amanita Toxin or Coarse Stone, and change this add-on completely, for example:

  • Caps the maximum amount of carried hatchets to 3.
  • Succesfully hitting a Survivor with a hatchet refunds it.

Or maybe this add-on could be the first ever add-on that changes her Lullaby range:

  • Decreases the humming radius by 9 meters. (So a 36 meter Lullaby radius)

Iridescent Head

The new Iri Head was changed in the laziest way possible, I was hoping for something like Peanits suggessted a while back, make them insta-down Survivors when they are further away, for example:

  • Hatchets insta down Survivors when they are further than 24 meters away from you.

What do you think?

    Iridescent Head, yes.

Soldier's Puttee, yes for idea one, for idea two, maybe fully remove the Lullaby and allow her to only carry 2 or 3 Hatchets?

Removing the Lullaby alltogether would be too strong I think, since she has lower terror radius than other Killers (20 meters), with M&A that would be kinda insane, even with the downside.

  • I'm completely agree with your idea of Iri head hatchets for 100%

Actually, I like the original soldier's puttee add-on but I'll make it common rarity instead of ultra rare.

Two of my mains are Huntress and Demo. You guys did a great job with Demo's new ultra-rare add-ons. Very cool, interesting, and useful without being oppressive. However, I'm very disappointed by the new Huntress ultra-rare add-ons and here's why. I will never use them...which is the same problem I had with old iri head.

It feels so cheap to get point-blank insta-down hatchets so that ruins it for me. Survivors STILL usually DC when they realize you have it (even now when it's just 1) so it clearly ruins the game for them too. I have dozens of these that I will never use because they are still poison to any game you bring them into.

The ultra-rare that increases your movement speed slightly when you're out of hatchets is soooooo boring. Additionally, a Huntress with even a moderate experience level knows you shouldn't be chasing down survivors without hatchets a vast majority of the time anyway.

I was so hoping that you guys would listen to the PTB feedback and change these addons. I'm still hoping you do. Adding a 20+ meter range requirement for the insta-downs (and maybe not reducing the number of hatchets) would make these so fun and balanced for both sides. As far as the other one goes, I'm going to throw out an idea...the other ultra-rare would make hatchets count as basic attacks. People would have so much fun creating unique builds with this add-on to trigger different perk combos from range. At the very least it would be interesting and people would use it.

@AhoyWolf What do you think of my idea for Huntress's second ultra-rare?

  • @AhoyWolf I mentioned in a follow-up comment that it could maybe also apply broken for 30 or 60 seconds so it does something regardless of perks.

  • Can we just let the idea of trying to turn iri head into iri coin die already?

The game's design doesn't support it which is probably why it wasn't used.

How can the game's design not support it? Do you mean the map design?

Either way Iri head needs to be changed again somehow, having one insta down hatchet is worse than having the regular five.

The basic attack idea is interesting, but could get out of hand really quickly with insta down Perks.

Also the Broken idea is more fitting for a rare or a very rare add-on I would say, not really a Ultra Rare material.

Map design and how the game integrates LoS blockers into its generation as a lot of loops have LoS blockers and you'd need a long unimpeded LoS to be able to hit it before skill is even factored in.

Also remember that skilled huntress achievment which is the achievement for downing 20 survivors in total that are 24 or more meters away IS RARER THEN EVERY SINGLE NURSE ACHIEVEMENT!

As for the usefulness: Your suggestion is about as useless as you claim the one insta down hatchet as its virtually impossible to reliably land. Let alone being HEAVILY map dependent as good luck getting it off on any indoor map.

My guess is that the developers did try your parroted suggestion and realized like I have that it doesn't work in DbD as they have the code for it in iri coin so it would be easily tested.

  • @AhoyWolf Ya but perk-based insta-downs have time limits (except Devour and NOED which can be broken) and many only affect 1 survivor at a time so it wouldn't be nearly as oppressive as insta-down hatchets all the time. Basic attack hatchets could also be used to apply tons of status effects, make survivors drop their items, transfer your terror radius, block pallets, gain stacks of certain perks, make downed survivors have no aura on the ground, explode gens, etc. all from range. I think that's pretty cool and you could have a lot of fun with interesting perk combos with this add-on. The broken status effect isn't the main point of the add-on. Just a little something extra that her add-ons and the perks can't currently do to give the add-on something regardless of perks.

  • Yes let's make it so iri head can only be used by experienced huntresses who can hit people from 24 metres away, screw anyone else that wants to try and have fun with an iri add on.

I think that it would be better than to reload after every single shot, or being a 110% Killer without a power if you miss.

Well, yeah. If you want to use a extremely powerful addon, then you should be good at the game first. Why give free handouts to people who don't deserve it?

So people who have paid for the game don't get to enjoy playing with add ons they have taken the time to unlock. Sounds fair.

  • Irl shard is quite lazy, and doesn't help with bad Huntress players to be able to get free downs! I love the new proposal; as I wouldn't be mad at a Huntress whom can instant down me from across the map!

As for the Solider addon, I would definitely Rework it do that it allows Huntress to remove some Hachets instead; up to a Max of 3 total; but... everytime they land a hit with the hachets; they gain back a hatchet out of thin air! Very terrifying as well as Exciting to have a "Infinity Hachet" Huntress whom can land every hit with her throws; worthy of a powerful Ultra Rare addon!
