So I think I finally understand the balance
They game is heavily killer sided. But the killer mains usually claim it is survivor sided. Why is that? I think I finally figured it out after a Legion decimated all four Survivors and he scored three times as many bloodpoints. He admitted his hits were trash and it was game flaws which allowed him to take us all out, but then he goes on to claim the game is biased against killers.
When you show them the fact killers almost always score more and usually kill more than half the survivors they believe the game is survivor sided but they actually believe they are just so skilled that they are able to win even though the odds are against them in their minds. They will never admit the game's flaws serve the killers more than the survivors because they believe it is their skill which allows them to win over and over again.

The game is in a pretty balanced state right now but at the higher levels survivors is the dominant role
No
Those are some pretty strong counter points.
Yes I know, at RAnk 1 SWF are hard. I'm talking about the other 95% of the games the average non-sweaty person plays.
I mean, you didn't said anything, you just said "the game its killer sided" without saying why or anything, so, my respond its pretty fair.
At a low-mid skill level, the game is very killer sided, because the killer has the overt tools to pressure survivors off of their objectives, and has no obstacles to completing their killer objectives. Survivors are crippled by doubt, as any action they make could result in a game over for them, while the killer has nothing to threaten them at all.
At a higher skill level, the games nuances come into play. Effective looping, special techniques, and a skilled team of survivors, who are also coordinating with each other, can get around most of the things the killer throws at them. Meanwhile the killer is working solo, can only be in one place at a time, and doesn't offer 4 times the amount of pressure or objective progress as one survivor. High skilled survivors can work around all of the killers tools, leaving the killer more or less harmless, unless the survivors make a mistake.
While its still the killer who is driving the game forward, survivors at a higher level realise that it is their actions that dictate what the killer can do at any given time. Survivors ARE the killers objective, so whatever the survivors do, is what the killer has to deal with. Killer can do nothing without survivors, but survivors without a killer can just hit gens and escape.
The fact that low-mid skill favours killer while high skill favours survivor, is what allows most killers to shoot right up to red ranks far too early, and also inflates the kill scores.

Didn't need to read past this.
At the high end it's quite significantly survivor sided. This isn't really a debated topic. It's pretty unanimously agreed upon by all the high hour and high rank community on both sides.
Killers tend to win more at low ranks because the survivors are bad and are more heavily punished, but we don't determine "balance" based on people playing bad.
Low rank survivors get destroyed by killers because they dont know how to play yet. Once survivors get better at the game, learning how to run and chain loops, having perks to grant them more chances, and just understanding the killer cant be everywhere at once you start to see that they can absolutely prevent the killer from getting any kills. Sure anyone can claim killer is easy against rank 20s but when you get competent survivors, true rank 1s, its a different story.
Honestly DbD is kind of an arms race of Killers vs Survivors.
If we're talking Newbies all around, it is Killer sided because the basics of Killer is much more obvious than the basics of Survivor.
However, step forward like... 20-30 hours of play, it becomes Survivor sided because they've learned basic looping, are better at being efficient, and Survivors can get incredibly strong builds with minimal BP investment and no shard investment. Meanwhile the Killers probably haven't gotten their really good perks and mindgame abilities to fight back yet. Honestly I would strongly guess that this flip flop is the reason why there isn't enough Killers at any rank besides brown.
Step forward like... ~100-200 hours and it flips back. Killers have finally their gotten solid builds and have learned to mind game. Probably they have also learned a lot more of the nuance of getting value out of their chosen killer(s).
Step forward again... to a spot where the majority of Survivors haven't got to. The Survivors start faking stuff as well, they learn a lot more of the counter play to each Killer, and maybe throw in SWF and it is once again Survivor sided.
