Why are offerings secret?

There's so few offerings that are secret that it is easy to deduct what they are. So this begs the question:

    Seriously though, there is no logical sense to it other than "stopping killer from knowing WHICH shroud you put out there, so they don't know how the survivors will spawn in" or "stopping Survivors from knowing WHICH mori is brought in"...

    Stupid all around and just needs to be removed. Archaic and unneeded.

    I guess we can also talk about how useless some offerings are. Like spawning your team together.

    Or a Jar of Salty Lips... why does it cost so much?? It's literally worthless.
