Buff Billy, rework overheat
after Billy nerf, he feels like a pre-buff cannibal where you need to sneezes survivor's hair in order to maul them with a chainsaw. Half of my arguments and etc will be based on this steam post https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/5/3110269850325523603/
I'll say this: Billy overheat should be removed or tweaked
argument a (me): Bily muffles a lot (which is sometimes hard to hear moving survivors + chainsaw sound), when he's charging he giving a loud notification (screaming + chainsaw). Overheat pretty much cucks new players than experienced ones + DBD maps are not an open field which is also the reason why overheat should be removed. If survivors force Billy to m1 then, his snowballing potential is reduced compared to Bubba. If survivors are pulling off unhooking with BT Billy can't punish survivors, but Bubba can. Right now Bubba is much better at chainsawing people than Billy + He can only down 1 survivor per 1 chainsaw rush. Bubba can hit multiple survivors with his chainsaw which is why overheat mechanic should be removed on him or reworked (for example if the chainsaw is overheated, he could rev his chainsaw much faster or something like that).
argument b: I wish overheat was removed but it never will be sadly. The devs gave three reasons for its inclusion and none are true:
1 - It increases skillcap. Untrue, it decreases skillcap because it reduces how often you can use your chainsaw and thus encourages you to go for M1s over trying to use your power.
2 - Billy was overperforming. Untrue again, billy only did well against bad survivors. Base kit billy could do very little against good survivors; the statistics used were skewed because the ranking system does not accurately determine skill.
3 - Camping potential. This one is partially true but a killer can still camp just as easily. The likes of deathslinger, pyramid head, huntress etc. still have massive camping potential.
Regarding the above, Yetti (me) is right, billy was nerfed unnecessarily. The addon nerf was fine; I have been a billy main both pre-nerf and post-nerf without addons. If you try and play billy at high level you will struggle to down good survivors with your power unless you are good (and this often means getting an absolute perfect curve + prediction). Even when "good", the best you can do is force survivors into 50/50s and guessing wrong is incredibly punishing. There is no need for an overheat mechanic when billy already gets punished so much. When billies destroy survivors it is often due to there being at least one weak link in the team. Billy has great snowball potential but his chase potential has never been great. Sadly though many who comment either never played as/against billy at high level.
With that said, many quote just overheat as the billy nerf when, in reality, he suffered many more nerfs (I am not referring to just space billy/addons either). This includes loss of charge tech, inability to saw survivors over pallets (dedi servers), inability to see through walls (exploit but still a nerf), a roar which ironically buffs W gamers, wider hitboxes on trees, and many others.
Regarding the above post, sprinting at 230% is not OP because as I explained, he has poor chase potential. You can run at 500% if you want; if you cannot down survivors quickly then it does not matter. Good survivors will always be able to position themselves appropriately, run to a nearby resource, etc. Billy only ever snipes bad survivors or those who are not paying attention.

If removing overheat mechanic is not possible.
What changes would you make to it
I would simply just increase overheat while revving but make it decrease while sprinting.
So it still punishes camping billys but no longer hinders long saw Billys.
First of all: decrease overheat when hitting survivor with chainsaw
Second of all: The more overheated chainsaw is the more quickly it will rev up
Third of all: rework addons and remove penalty from some addons.
Fourth of all: Speed limiter should increase revving up speed or decrease overheat.
Fifth of all: Lopro chains and other iri addons should decrease in rarity because their value is very map dependent.
Idk apex muffler seems pretty iri to me. Run it with tinkerer and you got a silent saw.
He’s still great but you can’t rely on add ons anymore.
Though I would like them to revert the small overheat nerf they did post PTB
Like the first three, the fourth is interesting and the fifth is a maybe since we need to know what iridescent add-on will be if the current one are move to very rare
i'm not reading all of that but i agree, buff billy. i miss playing against billy mains. the games were fun (minus the insta-saw users)
Billy is fun. yes. Until you meet high-level survivors who know where to run you, forcing to m1 or drop the chase.
