Are Glenvale and Midwich the most well done maps?
Now, I know a lot of people hate Midwich, but hear me out.
The two maps that were designed WITH breakable walls in mind are pretty well balanced if you get down to it:
- They're not too big or too small, giving plenty of room to avoid the killer or engage them in a chase and lead them away. Latter without the possibility to lead them so far away that slower killer would be at a disadvantage if they didn't break off the chase in time.
- While Midwich is a bit messy, it doesn't change its layout. once you know which paths go where, where vaults are etc you're on pretty solid ground on either side
- no massive disadvantages for certain killers: Some killers might as well just go to the gate and wait for the gens to pop to let the survivors out on certain maps because their powers are not well suited for certain maps. but on the saloon and midwich I haven't seen any killer who would face a lost cause.

Dead Dawg Saloon is actually the 3rd smallest map according to statistics. In reality, it feels like the smallest because the borders of the map are filled with dead zones and there are so many unsafe pallets.
Midwich is fine balance wide imo, but my gosh it is disorienting to play on and is a super boring hold W simulator.
Both maps need serious reworks because both aren’t good designed maps. It’s kind of a shame because both maps have great visual design.
Heck no. Midwich is the hold W map. If you see the killer at the end of a hallway you hold W and it takes like 40-50 seconds just for them to catch up. But once the killer does catch up; most of the loops are super unsafe, especially against antiloop killers.
Glenvale is the kick breakable walls or hide in bushes map. Most loops and the main building are way too strong until you spend a ton of time kicking out walls next to god windows. The bushes engulf all but the largest and brightest survivors and you will never find a blendette. Not to mention the completely free generators given to the survivors at the main building and on the hanging platform.
No. No they're really not.
Glenvale has so many problems with it for both sides. The gameplay loop in a chase consists of run to main building or shack, on the survivor side, or hope they don't run to main building to shack, on the killer side. Alternatively you can use the bushes, which as everyone constantly complains about, is a very boring way to play.
Even with the walls broken, that main building is an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Not to mention the amount of platform gens that can spawn- for record up to five can spawn at any one time. The generators that are notoriously difficult to defend and there are so many of them.
And in terms of massive disadvantages for powers? Pyramid Head and Twins suffer tremendously on this map due to how much it increases/decreases verticality. If you're playing Pyramid Head on Saloon, you might as well just never even use your power, because even at flat ground the loops are then too short to use your ability. Even at shack, the changes in height make it nigh-impossible to shoot from the outside in without literally making out with the wall.
It's not a well designed map.
Then we came to Midwich. Oh boy, Midwich.
Firstly, Object of Obsession on this map should be enough said, but just if it isn't the gameplay is stale as all hell. Why? Because it resorts to hold-w-until-you-find-a-god-pallet-or-window. What I will give Midwich is that every killer bar Trapper is able to use their power for the majority of the map, with some like Nurse, Freddy, or Hag having the time of their lives there. If the team you're facing don't have OOO it's far from the worst thing in existence, although a lot of the generators are a ######### to reach.
I guess Midwich does at least have the best implemented breakable walls.
TL;DR- no, they really really aren't, but Midwich is better than Saloon unless there's an OOO.
I don't think Midwich is a very well done map, however, that is the map with the best breakable walls imo.
Midwich is one of the worst maps in any videogame, period.
Saloon=stinky
