I said it once, I'll say it again

CHANGE THE STRUGGLE MECHANIC!!! I'm getting really ######### tired of getting killed by frame rate drops or lag. It's not even fun mashing a button for what feels like a small eternity. I understand you want to add a sense of urgency but there has to be a better way. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Hold X to succumb.

With this, it eliminates the lag/frame rate drop problem while keeping the sense of urgency for your teammates but not yourself. Dying is as simple as holding X and you go out on your own volition.

2. Periodic skill checks.

Similar to the atonement cages, you must succeed periodic skill checks and missing one will immediately kill you. Keeps the sense of urgency for both sides but can still fall victim to the games lag. It's better than constantly mashing a button at least.

3. QTE fight off.

Exactly how it sounds and might be the coolest idea out of them all. The entity will constantly try to stab you and you have to press a corresponding button in order to fight it off. As you can expect, failing one QTE will kill you and can still be messed up by lag.

4. Less button mashing.

Probably what behavior is going to opt for. They'll just decrease the amount of constant button pressing you'll have to do in order to not die. A band aid fix at best.

  • I agree! I don't like holding m1 either. Wish there was like press m1 to start repairing/healing/cleansing/gates long term tasks and then it will hold it on its own. To cancel you have to press any button,

  • They’ve said they had plans for it since silent hill and still haven’t changed it yet

So by solving one dogshit way to die, you've created two more dogshit ways to die.... seems about right.

Skill checks are unique to cage so dont do that. The hold the button to die makes more sense as at least if you do #########, people will know it was deliberate and not just lag. But that's it. No quick time events that just instantly kill you if the game decides to play tomfuckery

  • They should have changed it already. Skill checks would be fine instead of button mashing.
