Why do you still derank after a killer has rage quit/disconnected?

I just had two killer DC's in a row near the beginning of the match and lost 2 pips. I've been trying to get to rank 1 for a week and it just resets all my progress... #########?

It could at least just give you a safety pip, why just depip me because of something I can't control?

    Its unfair I agree but also know that survivors suffer in a similar way when we have team mates d/c and the killer still goes crazy on us. I'm lucky enough to just safety pip with a playing team these days let alone pip. If someone leaves its super hard to get enough done just to safety in my experience.
