Give trapper some QOL changes/buffs please.

This is a dated killer, suffering from old mechanics and ideas. He has more weaknesses probably than any other killer in the game.

  • Traps being affected by luck. Now, there is an offering in the game that does nothing but slightly increase your chances of unhooking- and directly counterplaying trapper. That's it. The fact such an offering exists; and the idea that luck has anything to do with the concept anyways is dated and should be removed. Traps should not work based on RNG; but instead something consistent across both sides at the very least.
  • Dead hard passing through traps seems problematic, given it's frequency in the meta it negates one of the trappers main 2 uses of his traps entirely every 60 seconds.
  • Maps; they render you basically powerless entirely. Turning you into an M1 killer; this should not be the case. No single item should almost entirely negate a killer's power. The fact this is still a thing is mind boggling; it took long enough for toolboxes not to work on them but this is the next thing that has to go.
  • Object of obsession, same thing as maps. I don't see what can be done about this. He should at least have some time at the start of the game to set some traps without the survivors immediately and consistently knowing where every single trap on the map is located. In solo's it's not so bad but if they are in a group this is extremely detrimental. I am not entirely sure how to solve this problem though myself...
  • Trapper sack (at least) should be base kit. I would argue that traps should apply mangled for at least 60 seconds by default as well- I mean you just got out of a bear trap, mangling creature's smaller than a bear is literally what they do. People have lost entire limbs in bear traps in real life; and in DBD they walk it off entirely and can actually escape a trap on first try sometimes which is only just barely longer than if they disarmed it.
  • If a survivor steps in a trap while injured, they should have to mend at the very least before they can heal; there should be some degree of consequence to stepping in a trap when you are already injured. I honestly would prefer it down them but I have a feeling BHVR will never allow that- so if neither of those is an option can it at least apply mangled? I mean if you step in 2 bear traps in a row; the fact you are not mangled at all is crazy to even think about. The survivors must have wolverine's adamantium skeleton to still be standing!

Thanks, that is all for now.

  • They should put a skill check on Trappers traps similar to snap out or reverse bear traps.

The indoor maps and new maos are terrible for hiding his traps. As Trapper I actually love Haddonfield because it's so easy to catch survivors in traps there - there's plenty of area to place them without having them stick out to survivors. Limiting where he can put his traps is so frustrating.

Since he has to go around collecting traps they need the traps placed closer to center of the map, not way out in the corners of a dead zones. Increasing how many he starts with/carries is also needed.

Getting stuck in traps when already injured should definitely requiring needing to mend.

  • Well; if all that proves to be too much hard work; there is always plan B:

(This one is just a joke)

  • Gonna reply to this a bit late but the hindered effect would also be massive, just for like 10 seconds, this could push Trapper's viability up a lot more whilst still not being overpowered!

I mean most bear traps can literally take a person's leg clean off or close to it.

In DBD they only hurt you a bit by default and don't slow you down, mess your leg up, nothing....and if you step in one while already hurt you don't get any more hurt at all. That's awfully generous.

Literally, remove dye addons and making honing stone basekit would be the realism option though, and we know that wont happen

edit: not that i'd want it to tahtd be terrible

  • I really don't care much for Trapper, as his design is outdated and the gameplay is meh on both sides. Pretty generic and basic but I do feel that he needs to be brought up on par with the rest of the cast of killers. But hey, at least he ain't receiving an extra ability and is still po-op.
