Thoughts on the state of DBD from a casual player (200+ hours, PC/Switch)
Positives:
- Graphics update alongside visual upgrades on the Switch console did not disappoint! Devs delivered here :)
- The game in itself is still somewhat fun?
Negatives
- Player-base: Declining over the years
- Queue times: Extremely long. Someone in forums suggested adding in AI survivor bots; this would have been a silly idea to me 2 years ago, but now it really doesn't sound too bad. New game modes would be nice, but DBD has bigger issues to deal with atm.
- Ranked Resets: Due to 10-15 minute queue times, climbing to rank 1-5 every month feels ever more frustrating and slow. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore!
- Lack of incentive: Logging in to face the 5-15 minute queue times is just sad. Why would any new players want to commit to this game? My friends and I went from playing games nightly to playing games a couple of times a month. The 100k+ blood point log-in bonuses are not really solving this issue.
Yes, the cosmetics + graphics improvements have been nice, but the glaring issue with DBD is the declining player base. Many have suggested adding other game modes to make DBD more dynamic, but I'm sure we all know that there are too many problems with the game as is.
TDLR: DBD needs to focus on revamp the player base, and implement effective incentives that will keep players coming back (despite ridiculous queue times).

I can agree with this, the same goes for me and my friends. We have pretty different schedules so it wasn't so much daily as it was a weekly thing. Now as a group we don't have much incentive to play cuz queue times are so long. Some of us still play, but on our own time. Swf seems like too much of a hassle for 20 minute waits.
