Limited-Time Cosmetic Codes via Streamers is Lose/Lose

Not all players have time to even get the regular codes in; we all have life obligations, jobs, school, etc that prevent people from getting the codes in.

Adding an additional stipulation of an extremely limited code that is sometimes given out by some streamers, randomly is a completely ass-backwards method of doing it. Yes, you're boosting viewership, but only a few players get the stuff, and the streamer gets to suffer a flood of "where's code, gimme code", etc. That's just shitting up the quality of their stream. Brings it down.

Come up with a new method. Dwightcrow should've been an example in how poorly this feature functioned, doubling down is not how you do it.

  • Let it go. It's a skin in a video game. It is not worth organizing your life around, or suffering FOMO because you didn't get something. I know it can be fun to get these neat little things, but there are so many more important things worth dedicating your brain cycles to, even just within the context of things you don't like about this specific game.

Strictly speaking you're not wrong... but failing to address a problem that doesn't affect you doesn't mean it's not still a problem.

My point is that it doesn't affect anyone. It's a ridiculous FOMO thing that doesn't have any impact on anyone's play experience. It is an artificial problem that you don't have to get caught up in.

  • While it would be nice to get some of these charms, using it as bait to watch streamers seems dirty to me. I think some of them are Fog Whisperers, and it's hard for me at least to relate to any of them when I'm pretty sure not one is an Xbox player.

The first round of these codes left a bad taste for me, especially the long codes with a short lifespan that is just so fun to try and smash in with a controller.

If the charms did something, anything to justify the effort maybe. But they are just trinkets for the belt line, barely visible, or for my hooks. I shouldn't get worked up about them, and neither should anyone else.
