Removing Junk from Survivors Bloodweb - make Items work like Killer Powers

Hello,

something I wanted to suggest for quite a long time, I hope I can describe it so that everyone understands what I mean. What I want to do is to make Items like a power which can be picked by the Survivors in the Lobby and, if they like, they can add up to two Add-Ons to it, just like Killers.

This is due to the change of Survivors losing Add Ons despite escaping, which is still a really bad change, considering that Survivors have more than 3 times the amount of Add Ons and Items than Killers and earn less BPs, which makes it really hard to get a specific Add On (as an example, I always use a Bag on my Trapper and in my current Bloodweb, I have 3 brown Bags, 1 yellow Bag and a purple Bag, which would allow me to play 5 games just because of this Bloodweb).

So the goal would be to reduce the number of Items and Add Ons by making Items not obtainable via the Bloodweb, but as a Power to choose from and reducing the number of Add Ons by simply deleting useless/weak Add Ons. It will most likely not possible to go for 20 Add Ons like Killers, but the number can be reduced quite a lot.

NOTE: To make this work it is absolutely mandatory that Keys get changed so that they either are not able to open the Hatch at all OR with an Add On.

So, current situation:

Survivors have 6 different Types of Items - Medkits(4 different, excluding Event Medkits), Toolboxes(6 different), Keys(3 different), Maps(2 different), Flashlights(3 different exclusing Event Flashlights), Firecrackers(event only) with 13 Flashlight-Add Ons, 9 Key-Add Ons, 9 Map-Add Ons, 13 Medkit-Add Ons and 11 Toolbox-Add Ons. This makes a total of 18 different Items with 55 Add Ons among them.

With the idea of making Items a Power which Survivors can select, we would have 6 different Powers:

Medkit

Toolbox (maybe two different Toolboxes, one for Sabotage, one for Repair)

Keys (not able to open the Hatch, MAYBE with an Add On)

Map (Rainbow Map)

Flashlight

Firecracker

...

This would already reduce the number of Items in the Bloodweb by 18.

If we look at the Add Ons, the following Add Ons are not really useful and can either be merged with other Add Ons or completely deleted:

Medkit-->Skill Check progression Bonus (can be removed), Charges (can be merged so that we dont have 4 different Add Ons, but maybe 2 Add Ons for that), Bonus BPs for Skill Checks (can be merged into one Add On).

Toolbox-->Those Add Ons can easily be removed: Instructions (removes Skill Checks), Spring Clamp (reduces Repair noises), Protective Gloves (prevents Killers from being notified when a Survivor starts to sabotage, which is basically useless since the only way to use sabotage is when the Killer is carrying someone to the Hook), Grip Wrench (Hooks are broken for an extra 15 seconds, again, not really useful for the current state of Sabotage)... You could also remove the 8 charges Add On and the "slightly increase Repair Speed" Add On, since they are not really that useful.

Keys-->Weaved Ring and Milky Glass can be removed, since they would not serve their purpose anymore with this idea. Prayer Rope (10 seconds of use) and Eroded Token (24 meters aura read for Survivors) also can both be removed, because there are superior Add Ons (15 seconds and 48 meters)

Map-->Yellow Wire (Exit Gate tracking), Red Twine (Killer belongings), Black Silk Cord (Hatch Tracking) can be removed since the Map-Power would be the one of a Rainbow Map. Also the Map Addendum is not really useful because it only add 5 seconds of use, and if you want to have more out of your Map, you would most likely get Retardant Jelly anyway.

Flashlights-->The only useful Add Ons are the Batteries and the Low-Amp Filament. (https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Add-ons#Flashlight), so the Add Ons should have a bigger Rework when removing a bunch of them.

When looking at my list, 16 Add Ons can be removed and at least 6 Add Ons can be merged to 3 Add Ons (seeing Medkits). So 19 Add Ons removed on top of the 18 Items, which would result in 37 less Bloodweb Items. So instead of 73 different Items, Survivors would only have 36 different Items, which would be a huge improvement.

Maybe this number can be lowered even more, but I dont think that it would be possible to have the same distribution like Killers.

TL, DR: Make all items to Powers which can be selected, remove and merge Add Ons to lower the number, overall, try to come closer to the number of Bloodweb Items of Killers to make it easier to get specific Add Ons.

  • Sounds like an interesting idea, not sure if it would be balanced tho, why would I ever bring a perk like Self Care if I can have a med-kit every single game or an aura revealing perks if keys and maps exist?, also how would it work with chests?

PI would probably need to be changed in some way, since the item rarity hase been removed and only chest reveal wouldn't be that good.

It's an interesting idea, but I think it needs a little bit more work.
