The Key issue with MMR
MMR attempts to predict the outcome of a match, which means it will try to avoid matches that seem fixed one way or the other.
There's one core fact that isn't taken into account however: There are much more top tier Survivors than Killers. So in order to create "balanced" matches with the Killer playerbase that naturally exists the MMR system will have to make Rainbow Rank matches to create "fair" lobbies.
So what the new MMR system is prone to doing is watering down better Survivors with weakers Survivors to allow "winnable" matches for mediocre Killers. On paper it makes sense, but in practice the games feel more lopsided than ever. Because four high MMR Survivors are really hard to find an acceptable Killer so it just mixes high and low to create more "mid-level" lobbies.

"which means it will try to avoid matches..." who said that?
Also your guess in how rainbow matches will be generated is nowhere explained. How about "the system will get a list of all available player ranks to get an overview of the current distribution of availabe ranks, to apply the best match making possible, before acctually assigning people to lobbies".
That would be more or less my first idea of a working MMR system. This is also not confirmed anywhere on how this is working in detail, but would avoid your "watering down" assumption. So who knows how it works and why some setups are happening? Btw, where did you get the stats about current ranking distributions? Especially on the new MMR values, that are hidden for the current match making?
Or maybe it's rainbow ranks because rank has no bearing on matchmaking or even skill for that matter.
There are much more top tier Survivors than Killers
I'm curious to know the source of this.
hey, that will keep the rift challenges possible to complete eventually for the majority of killers once their lucky potato rolls around, which will keep people interested in playing killer sometimes rather than stockpiling onto only the survivor pools if it's the only side that winds up being fun for them. that would be a good thing in the end if it matches that way. My main concern is that sooner or later, not only would you still be putting up with swf, but no longer would a duo or trio lobby have a chance of a potato providing an opportunity to get your foot int he matchs' doors any more let alone would you literally never find another single "potato swf" group ever again. which over time would bleed out most except the most tryhard, potentially masochistic killers which would then trickle down and run casual survivors and the more casual swf groups off of the game. Because sitting in very long queues, when used to never having long queues ont heir side most likely, just to get matched with only sweaty killers once the game goes, "no more potatos... guess a sweaty killer will hafta do for you" will drive them away too after the potato and mid-range killers are gone.
I've seen it happen to other 'asymmetrical', even with lots of players they can eventually be driven off through a cascading reaction like that especially as their waiting times gradually increase while their fun from the game steadily decreases. Once it hits an impacting enough point it forms a feedback loop of longer queues and more frustrating gameplay leading to more players leaving making the situation worse and repeating the cycle.
